Big Stack Busts on Bubble w/ Kings vs. Aces in WSOP Main Event
Negreanu Busts Post-Bubble
In Level 16 (4,000/8,000/8,000), reporter Frank Visser saw Daniel Negreanu move in for his final 34,000 chips as first to act. Mauro Ferreira was the only caller, in the cutoff, and the cards were tabled.
Daniel Negreanu: K♠10♦
Mauro Ferreira: Q♥Q♦
Negreanu pleaded for just a single king, but none came on the 2♥A♠3♥3♠J♠ runout and he left the table in 1,468th place to pick up his cash of $15,000.
Defending Champ Falls
In the same level, reporter Jeff McMillan saw Ruben Hovsepyan raise from the cutoff, and defending WSOP Main Event champ Daniel Weinman jammed about 100,000 from the button. The call was made and the cards turned up.
Daniel Weinman: A♦9♦
Ruben Hovsepyan: A♥Q♠
The 2023 Main Event champion needed help to stay alive. The flop came 10♥3♠4♦, the turn was the A♠, and the river the 5♠ to end Weinman's bid to be the first back-to-back champion since Johnny Chan in 1987 and 1988. Even still, he did walk away with a $15,000 cash for finishing in 1,357th place.
EPT Creator John Duthie Eliminated
In Level 17 (5,000/10,000/10,000), reporter Nick Becker picked up the action on the flop in a hand between Ben Collins in early position and John Duthie, the creator of the European Poker Tour (EPT), in late position.
With roughly 100,000 in the pot and the board reading 8♦6♥4♣, Collins check-called a bet of 85,000 from Duthie.
On the 7♣ turn, Collins checked again and Duthie moved all in, putting himself at risk. Collins quickly made the call.
John Duthie: 9♠7♠
Ben Collins: 5♣5♥
The river brought the A♥ and Collins' straight-ended Duthie's Main Event run in 1,060th place for $17,500.

Covington Knocked Out by Ponakovs
In the same level, Frank Visser witnessed UFC fighter Colby Covington and high roller Aleksejs Ponakovs create a pot of 100,000 chips when they arrived on a turn of 2♠Q♦8♦9♠. After an unseen action from Ponakovs, Covington put out 125,000 chips.
Ponakovs then raised all in, covering Covington's stack of roughly 320,000 chips. Covington went into the tank but eventually slammed in a call for his tournament life.
Colby Covington: A♦Q♥
Aleksejs Ponakovs: 9♣2♣
The 3♥ river did not counterfeit Ponakov's two pair as Covington was sent to the rail in 1,077th place for $17,500.
Lin Puts a Tough Beat on Werner
In Level 18 (6,000/12,000/12,000), reporter Cottrell van Wingerden saw some back-and-forth raising before Aaron Werner moved all in for 510,000 out of the small blind and was called by Ren Lin on the button.
Aaron Werner: Q♥Q♦
Ren Lin: J♥9♣
Werner was in wonderful shape to score a massive double. Unfortunately for him, the board ran out 7♣9♥A♠3♣9♦ to improve Lin to trips to hand him an unlikely knockout while leaving a sour taste in Werner's mouth. "I thought you had ace-king," Lin explained to Werner as his opponent made his way to the exit.
