$4M Guaranteed PokerStars Mystery Bounty Series Gives the Format Several Twists
Table Of Contents
Mystery bounty tournaments have taken the live and online poker worlds by storm, and the exciting format has quickly become a fan favorite. While PokerStars is no stranger to mystery bounty tournaments on its online platform or during its live festivals, it has never run a series dedicated to them….until now.
The inaugural PokerStars Mystery Bounty Series runs from June 23 through June 30. The entire week is dedicated to mystery bounty tournaments, with 55 events with buy-ins from $5.50 to $530 and combined guaranteed prize pools worth $4 million, including a brace of $1 million guaranteed events.
Big numbers always captured the poker community's imagination, but PokerStars has more about it than throwing wads of cash at a series; they are innovators in a world full of imitators. With that in mind, Mystery Bounty Series players can expect some unique formats and variants that are guaranteed to excite, thrill, and keep even the most seasoned grinders on their toes.
More Than Just No-Limit Hold'em
Although mystery bounty tournaments are in their relevant infancy, the early trend is that most are played as No-Limit Hold'em events. It makes sense because No-Limit Hold'em remains poker's most popular variant.
PokerStars doesn't only want Hold'em players to enjoy its mystery bounty tournaments, so is testing the waters with some other popular poker variants, each given a mystery bounty twist.
Pot-Limit Omaha, No-Limit 5-card Draw, Omaha Hi-Lo, Badugi, 2-7 Single Draw, and even 8-Game players can experience a mystery bounty tournament during the Mystery Bounty Series. PokerNews is not aware of anywhere that has offered such mystery bounty events, particularly online.

Even Some Hold'em Events Are Special
While the bulk of the Mystery Bounty Series' events are No-Limit Hold'em, even some of those have a special twist that makes them stand out from the crowd. Some of the unique formats include:
- Total Mystery – The entire prize pool is awarded as mystery bounty payments
- Fabulous Forty – Mystery bounties only come into play when five tables (40-players) remain
- Goose Hunt – Only one huge mystery bounty is in play
- Mostly Mystery – 70% of the prize pool is awarded as mystery bounties
- Super Sixteen – Mystery bounties only come into play when two tables (16 players) remain
- Ten Percenter – Mystery bounties start when only 10% of the field remains
- Final Table Bounties – Only the players at the final table can win mystery bounties
These new formats and structures help inject some excitement and fun into the mystery bounty world and should be well-received by the PokerStars community.
Hold'em players get to enjoy a $109 buy-in, $1 million guaranteed Sunday Million Mystery Bounty edition, and an $11 buy-in, $150,000 guaranteed Sunday Storm Mystery Bounty edition.
Rounding off the series on June 30 are a $109 buy-in, $1 million guaranteed Main Event and an $11 buy-in, $150,000 guaranteed Mini Main Event.
