Sick Coolers And Unfortunate Bluffs Make For Massive Pots At The Lodge
Poker At The Lodge ran three live streams over the weekend—two $5/$10 cash game streams and a tournament stream. The two cash streams stood out with some massive hands despite the relatively low stakes. These big hands included a massive three-way pre-flop cooler and a hand where "Hai" made a $7,000 bluff into quads, losing his stack in the process.
The games were hosted by The Lodge, Doug Polk's cardroom located in Austin, Texas. There was a nice mix of Lodge regulars on the streams as well as a few notable newcomers including "Sam" on Thursday's stream who was in Austen for his wedding and Yennifer Xie who flew in from Tokyo for Friday's stream.
You can watch all three livestreams on the Poker At The Lodge Youtube channel.
Dealing Hot And Cold
The biggest no limit hold'em hand at The Lodge on Thursday's stream was a massive pre-flop three-way jam-fest.
In one of those coincidences that suggest that the universe has a sense of humor, the table talk had just turned to the impact of the Texas weather on the players' air conditioning bills. As the players talked about the cost of cool air, the dealer was doling out a cooler that would rack up a combined bill of just under $10k for "Big Al" and "Killa K".
The hand started with Sam picking up K♠K♥ on the button and raising to $200. In an ideal situation for Sam, "Big Al" picked up the A♣K♣ in the SB and "Killa K" got Q♥Q♦ in the big blind. Al called and Killa raised to $700.
With everyone at the top of their range, it was no surprise that Sam re-re-popped it to $1,500, Al moved his stack of $4,390 into the pot, and Killa called with his remaining $3,690. Sam (who covered both players) called off the rest of his stack making the main-pot plus side-pot come to $15,785 total.
The dealer kept things exciting with with two clubs on the flop but in the end, the board of J♣4♦2♣8♥7♠ missed all three players. Sam's pocket kings were good enough to rake in his opponents' stacks for a profit of $9,995. That should be more than enough to cover Sam's A/C costs for the summer.
The Lodge is currently hosting The Lodge Championship Series—a tournament festival with thirteen numbered and six high-roller events—from April 24 to May 14. Some of the final tables are livestreamed on Poker At The Lodge.
