The Free Poker Network (FPN) is coming to Las Vegas next week for some exciting events for bar poker league players at Golden Nugget.

PokerNews will be on-site live reporting two tournaments, starting with the $2,500 guaranteed Tag Team. Entry costs $250 per team into the tournament. On May 31, we'll be live reporting the Main Event, dubbed the FPN "Step in the Ring" National Championship, with qualifiers coming to town from bars all over the United States.

The National Championship has a ton at stake for the poker players headed to Las Vegas to compete. Most importantly, a $12,500 World Series of Poker (WSOP) package to three winners.

There is a $50 registration fee for the Main Event, but no direct fee for qualifiers. Starting chip stacks are determined by pre-qualification league play. The maximum starting chip stack is 40,000, and over 50 players will begin at that point. All players will start the tournament with at least 10,000 chips.

There's more at stake for the players in this event than the WSOP packages, including cash prizes to all top 36 finishers. On top of that, there will be $10,000 mystery bounties up for grabs. Action begins at 10 a.m. local time from Golden Nugget on May 31.

Playing in the pre-Main Event qualifiers has some advantages. Each of the five qualifying events starting May 28 award 20,000 bonus chips for the championship tournament, along with cash prizes.

The firs two qualifiers — May 28 and May 29 — cost $200 to enter and feature $1,500 mystery bounties. Those who finish in the top 15% of the first two tournaments will automatically advance to the National Championship.

Qualifier #3 on May 30 is $200 to enter and includes a Bar Championship trophy to the winner (no mystery bounty) with the final table moving on to the Main Event. On May 30, two additional events take place, starting with the a $250 buy-in MEGA qualifier, with 25% of the field earning a spot in the finale.

And then, as already mentioned, the Tag Team event to be live reported by PokerNews that same day. The final table will all move on to the Main Event.
