Graton RGPS

The RunGood Poker Series (RGPS) continues its season of Destination RunGood events with a visit to Graton Resort And Casino in the California Bay Area. The RGPS Bay Area events will run from May 2 to May 12, 2024, with a schedule of 17 ring events.

The flagship event of the RGPS Bay Area will be an $800 buy-in Main Event with a prize pool guarantee of $200,000. However, this series has a few extra features that make it stand out. In addition to the usual RGPS rings, there will also be a mixed-game championship cup up for grabs. Plus the final event of the series will be a satellite to the WSOP Main Event.

There is also a Black Chip/Ambassador Bounty NLH Ring Event on the books, in which special guests will hold mystery bounty envelopes. Whoever knocks the special guests out will win a randomized prize that could be anything from store credit at the RunGood merch shop to $1,000 in cash.

California Dream Rings

It is a great couple of weeks coming up for anyone who fancies an RGPS Ring. The RGPS Bay Area will be the fourth series to kick off in an eleven-day period. The Californian event follows on from upcoming events in Council Bluffs, Iowa; Reno, Nevada; and St. Louis, Missouri.

The Bay Area series has no fewer than 17 rings up for grabs, including five for non-hold'em events. These non-hold'em games (PLO, Limit Omaha 8, Pot Limit Omaha 8, T.O.E., and H.O.R.S.E) have been chosen to highlight some great, but less popular, poker variants... except for the T.O.E. Ring Event which was clearly chosen for wordplay reasons.

Most players will be eying up the Main Event ring as the most desirable. However, the high-rolling Purple Chip Bounty event with its $1,100 buy-in should also attract some serious action and any over fifties will want to take a crack at the Seniors Ring Event.

Previous Winner

In 2023, the RGPS Bay Area $800 Main Event saw a massive turnout. A field of 1,043 entrants bought in, resulting in a prizepool of $730,100.

Pe Kyaw was the final victor of the event after cutting a three-way ICM deal with Daniel Lowery ($88,870 for second) and Taylor Pollard ($84,835 for third).

Kyaw won $90,330 for his win after applying a mantra of "play tight, play good" throughout the event. A mantra he will no doubt apply again if he chooses to return and defend his title this year.
