Bar Poker Open Heads to Florida for the 2023 BPO World Championship

The Palm Beach Kennel Club's poker room will be packed to the rafters between November 16-20, as the Bar Poker Open heads there for the Florida edition of its World Championship. The $365 buy-in invite-only Florida World BPO Championship has a guaranteed top prize of $50,000 and an estimated prize pool in the region of $150,000. The five-day series starts at 11:00 a.m. local time on November 16 with Day 1A of the $100K Florida Special. Open to the public, the $100K Florida Special commands a $250 buy-in and guarantees at least $100,000 will be dished out by the time the champion lifts the winner's trophy. This event features four flights, with the final day scheduled to commence at 2:00 p.m. on November 18.
$50,000 Guaranteed to the World Championship Champion
The tournament every Bar Poker Open player has their eye on is the $365 buy-in Florida BPO World Championship. Only players who have qualified throughout the year at their local bars and finished in the top three, or who have accumulated enough points in BPO-sanctioned games are eligible to buy into this huge event.
Day 1A shuffles up and deals at 11:00 a.m. local time on November 18. Everyone sits down with 25,000 chips, and plays to 30-minute levels. A single re-entry is permitted before late registration closes, and the top 10% of the field advances to Day 2 with a min-cash in tow.
There is also a Day 1B at 11:00 a.m. local time on November 19 that runs to the exact same schedule and format. Players who entered Day 1A can also play 1B. Should they make it through to Day 2 twice, their smallest stack is forfeited, and Bar Poker Open gives them $1,000.
Day 2 takes place from 11:00 a.m. local time on November 2, with the televised final table expected to kick off around 6:00 p.m. local time.
Other BPO Florida Events
All of the side events are open to the poker-loving public. They include a $180 buy-in Deep Stack, a $125 Pot Limit Omaha tournament, a $160 buy-in Progressive Knockout, and a €150 buy-in CSOP Celebrity Charity event.
Last month, Bar Poker Open joined forces with the Charity Series of Poker (CSOP), and helped raise $45,575 for worthy causes. Celebrity players included Joey Ingram, Ebony Kenney, 2006 World Series of Poker Main Event champion Jamie Gold, Drew Gonzalez, Shane Schleger, and local comic Jay Rivera.

Bar Poker Open ran a Vegas World Championship in June 2023 at the Golden Nugget Hotel & Casino. A bumper crowd of 1,053 entrants battled it out for the $100,000 top prize, the largest in BPO history.
Once the dust had settled at the Golden Nugget, Edward Holt was the last player standing, and recipient of that juicy six-figure score. Holt hails from Franklin, Massachusetts, and plays on the Eastern Poker Tour. He defeated New York's Ryan Surdi during heads-up play to become a worthy champion.
