PartyPoker Grand Prix Summer

The first three PartyPoker Grand Prix Summer events are done and dusted, their champions crowned, and those champions' bankrolls boosted. All three tournaments obliterated their guarantees, which bodes well for the rest of the series.

Grand Prix Summer #01 Opener PKO saw 2,511 PartyPoker players exchange $33 for the chance to become a poker champion. All of those entrants meant the $50,000 guaranteed prize pool was not only hit but surpassed by an impressive $25,330. All that prize money meant only two of the nine finalists headed home without four-figure scores for their efforts.

"MegaMove87" ($922) and "Sn1jden" ($611) were the aforementioned grinders that missed out on a $1,000+ payday.

"Gordothegreat" turned their $33 into $1,026, with the help of bounty payments, when they crashed by the wayside in seventh. Sixth place and $1,205 went to "KannstduLeihen" before the untimely demise of "Igotdanuts01" ($1,831) left only four players in the hunt for the title.

Those four became three when "erikdinho" ($3,039) ran out of steam, with the Opener PKO progressing to the heads-up stage when "pokerdave47699" ($3,491) saw his stack head to an opponent.

"OptibetPoker" and "c4ught" locked horns and butted heads in a one-on-one battle for the title of champion. Both players locked in almost $4,500 from the main prize pool, but everything was still to play for because the last bounties weighed in at more than $4,200.

Eventually, it was "OptibetPoker" ($8,673) who came out on top, leaving "c4ught" ($4,974) to possibly rue missed chances to become the first Grand Prix Summer champion of the series.

Mini Opener Attracts Over 3,000 Entrants

PartyPoker guaranteed at least $10,000 would be awarded in Grand Prix Series #02 Mini Opener PKO, but ultimately awarded $15,095, thanks to 3,019 players turning out in force.

Such an impressive turnout meant the nine finalists all saw a healthy return on their affordable $5.50 investments.

"Dinaic" ($130), "ConveraKAombi" ($184), and "Chapeii" ($224) saw their deep runs halted, which left the table short-handed.

The players continued falling, with "RobieMx" ($278), "RandyMarsh" ($390), and "ILFalcorino" ($454) running out of chips before they would have wanted to.

The penultimate exit was that of "HardToExplain," ($730), which left "Brunaozer4" heads-up against "CEDCryptoCoin." Both players saw four-figure hauls land in their PartyPoker accounts, but it was "Brunaozer4" who came out with the $1,429 top prize, resigning "CEDCryptoCoin" to collect a $1,057 consolation prize.
