2023 Irish Open Main Event Satellites

The countdown to the 2023 Irish Open, Europe's longest-running poker tournament, is on, with the first of 39 scheduled events scheduled to shuffle up and deal on April 3, less than three months away. A €1 million guaranteed Irish Open Main Event is the crown jewel during a spectacular eight days of poker at the Royal Dublin Society, and you could be playing in it for free, or from as little as €1.10 thanks to PokerStars.

Now is the time to act if you are on the fence about heading to Dublin this April because PokerStars is guaranteeing its players will win at least 23 packages, each worth €1,500, every week up to and including when the €1 million guaranteed 2023 Irish Open Main Event kicks off. By the time PokerStars players have won all the seats offered, the 2023 Irish Open Main Event will be the live tournament that PokerStars has ever sent players to. Will you be one of them?

Irish Open Main Event Package Satellites

PokerStars is running two €109 buy-in Irish Open Main Event satellites each week, a five-package guaranteed affair on Wednesday and an eight-package guaranteed satellite on Sunday. You have the choice of buying into the €109 satellite direct or playing your way in from as a little as, well, nothing.

Daily freerolls are your first port of call if you are on a budget or fancy trying to capture a €1,500 Irish Open Main Event package for free, well, for nothing but the time you invest. Cards are in the air in the Irish Open Main Event Sat [Freebuy] satellites at 4:25 p.m. They come with €0.05 rebuys and a €0.05 add-on at the end of the rebuy period, but you are under no obligation to throw any money in these games. The freebuy tournaments guarantee at least one €5.50 Irish Open Main Event Sat ticket, with additional tickets awarded for each €5.50 in the prize pool.

Satellites feeding into the twice-weekly €109 satellite come with buy-ins of €1.10, €5.50, €11, and €16.50. Get your hands on one of the €1,500 Irish Open Main Event packages, and you'll receive a €1,150 seat to the €1 million guaranteed Irish Open Main Event plus €350 towards travel and accommodation expenses.

Make sure that you keep March 19 clear in your diaries because that is the day a whopping 20 seats and expenses packages are guaranteed to be won in a single €109 buy-in finale.

Irish Open Main Event Seat Only Packages

PokerStars is also running €55 buy-in seat-only satellites twice per week, each with five €1,150 seats to the Irish Open Main Event guaranteed. One runs on Monday, with another shuffling up and dealing on Friday.

Again, your route to qualification can start with the freebuy tournaments, although there are feeder satellites costing €1.10, €5.50, and €11.

Satellites Are Also Live at Paddy Power Poker

It is not only PokerStars running Irish Open Main Event satellites because Paddy Power Poker is getting in on the action, too. The popular Irish online poker site has €50 buy-in satellites that award €1,150 tickets, and €150 buy-in satellites paying our €2,250 packages. Strangely neither the Paddy Power Poker lobby nor its website states what the package consists of.

Feeder satellites costing €0.01, €2, and €10 are in the Paddy Power Poker lobby, giving more people the chance of winning their way to Dublin.

2023 Irish Open Schedule

Everything kicks off at the 2023 Irish Open on April 3, with the curtain coming down on proceedings on April 10. The €1 million guaranteed Main Event runs from April 5-10, features four flights, and could be one of the largest-ever Irish Open Main Events on record.

Steve O'Dwyer is the reigning champion, having come out on top of a 2,040-strong field in the 2022 edition. O'Dwyer returned home with €318,700 of the €1,989,000 prize pool after defeating Scotland's Kyle Maguire heads-up.
