Some poker players can go through their entire careers having never won a multi-table tournament. Carlos Villamarin is not just some poker player; he has enjoyed more than his fair share of outright victories. Villamarin was in hot form on October 9, as is evident by his taking down of not one but two tournaments online at GGPoker.

Add up both top prizes Villamarin captured and you reach an impressive $117,817. That sum would have been higher had Villamarin not struck a three-handed deal in the $1,050 GGMasters High Rollers event!

The GGMasters High Rollers may have cost $1,050 to enter but that did not stop 920 GGPoker players from entering. Those entrants created a $920,000 prize pool, far more substantial than the advertised $750,000 guarantee.

The final table was a cosmopolitan affair, with no fewer than eight countries represented, going to show poker is truly a global game.

Such a deep prize pool meant nobody at the nine-handed final table took home less than $14,162 for their efforts. That was the sum collected by "greenturtleshel" of Canada when they ran out of steam in ninth place.

Leonard "Sheogorath" Mendes of Mexico fell in eighth for $18,668, Abhinav "Pokerboss888" Aditya of India busted in seventh for $24,609, before Macedonia's Aleks "JustaMortal" Dimitrov bowed out in sixth for a $32,440 score.

Those pay jumps grew larger with each eliminated player. Macau's Zhe" GJYUZHE" Yu collected $42,763 for his fifth-place finish, and Slovenian grinder "soldzerjan" banked $56,371 after coming unstuck in fourth.

The difference in the payouts was such that the final three players paused the tournament and struck a deal. The deal benefitted Alberto "AlbertMeran" Meran of the Dominican Republic the most because he reeled in $100,929 for his third-place finish, the largest score of the event.

Heads-up pitted Villamarin against "Subtai89" of Mongolia, which is not the first country that springs to mind when you think of high-stakes poker. Villamarin got the job done in the heads-up battle, and helped himself to a $99,766 prize, leaving his Mongolian opponent to head into the night with $100,698 nestled in his GGPoker account.

Victory Number Two For Villamarin

Villamarin's second victory also came in a $1,050 buy-in tournament, namely the Sunday Kick-Off. Only 77 players dialled into this event, but that did not prevent the final table being a star-studded affair.

Such luminaries as Artur Martirosian, Arthur Conan, Dimitar Danchev, Renan "PrinceHamed" Aziz, and Nick Maimone reached the final nine players, although they fell short of the outright victory.

"legal" was the fourth-place finisher, a result worth $8,562. That elimination locked in five-figure prizes for the remaining trio of stars. Canadian "LJoesph62" crashed out in third for $10,978, but later finished secured a seat at the $10,300 Super MILLION$ final table.

Villamarin was heads-up against the recent addition to the GGPoker team, Rayan "Beriuzy" Chamas. Either player would have made a worthy champion, but the night belonged to Villamarin, who scored $18,051, leaving Chamas to help himself to the $14,077 consolation prize.

Joao Simao is no stranger to winning poker tournament, and he added the $5,250 Bounty Hunters Super High Roller title to his ever-growing list of poker accomplishments. The event drew in a compact field of 34, who created a $170,000 prize pool.

Only the top five finishers received a slice of the main prize pool, although all those who cashed also won at least one slice of the bounty prize pool, too.

Artur Martirosian was the fifth-place finisher, with Niklas Astedt finishing in fourth. Brunno Botteon fell by the wayside in third, leaving Simao heads-up against Dimitar Danchev.

The heads-up duo guaranteed themselves a payout in excess of $23,000, but the final bounty payment was worth more than first and second-place combined. Simao secured that final bounty, one that weighed in at $53,675 for a total haul worth $76,968. Danchev had to make do with a total prize that tipped the scales at $31,901.
