Simon Mattsson

The second of six MILLIONS Online Main Event and Mini Main Event flights took place at PartyPoker on September 10, and Swedish players topped the chip counts in both. The legendary figure of Simon Mattsson (lead image) came out on top in the $3,200 buy-in $2 million guaranteed MILLIONS Online Main Event, while Emil Olsson bagged the chip lead in the $320 buy-in $500,000 guaranteed Mini Main Event.

Day 1B of the $2 million guaranteed Main Event drew in a crowd of 117 entrants, taking the running total to 269. Only 18 players navigated their way from Day 1B to Day 2, and nobody had more chips than Simon Mattsson.

Mattsson was one of two Day 1B players that finished the night with more than 10 million chips. The super-talented Swede now has 16,010,939 chips in his arsenal, which are enough to place him third overall. Only Gabriele Re (27,674,473) and Rodrigo Sirichuk (17,229,755) are ahead of Mattsson as things stand.

Robert Heidorn (13,432,501) was the other Day 1B entrant who ended the flight with more than 10 million betting tokens.

Day 1C of the MILLIONS Online Main Event commences at 7:05 p.m. BST on September 18. There is then a Day 1D at the same time on September 25, with Day 1E and a Day 1 Turbo scheduled for 2:05 p.m. and 5:05 p.m. on September 26.

Olsson Bags Mini Main Event Day 1B Lead; Leads Overall

Emil Olsson
Emil Olsson

Emil Olsson, who has already taken down a brace of MILLIONS Online side events, was busy climbing to the summit of the $320 MILLIONS Online Mini Main Event while his fellow Swede, Mattsson, was navigating his way to the top of the $3,200 Main Event counts. Olsson turned his 1,000,000 starting stack into 18,614,212 chips, which are enough not only for the Day 1B lead but to lead this $500,000 guaranteed tournament overall.

Olsson won a $320 6-Max Turbo PKO for $8,506 and a $215 7-Max Turbo PKO for $5,672, and now has a realistic shot at becoming the MILLIONS Online Mini Main Event champion. He will not have matters his own way, however, because everyone who finished in the Day 1B top ten did so with eight-figure stacks in front of them.

Brazil's Brener Vicente finished Day 1B with 17,890,838, hot on the heels of the leader. Alexandros Theologis (12,818,521) finds himself in the top five of the Mini Main Event in addition to the top ten of the Main Event.

Other PartyPoker players safely through to Day 2 include Mathias Siljander (11,774,891), Team Online's Matthew Staples (10,915,293), Leon Sturm (7,530,581), Sami Kelopuro (5,722,629), and Sylvain Loosli (2,827,966).

Only 51 of the 338 starters punched their Day 2 tickets, which means 583 players have bought in so far.

Future Day 1s mirror those of the $3,200 Main Event.

Patrick Leonard Crowned The Grand MILLIONS Online Edition

Patrick Leonard
Patrick Leonard

Patrick Leonard became a MILLIONS Online champion and found his PartyPoker account contains $29,731 more than it did a couple of days ago. This is because Leonard came out on top in the $1,050 buy-in The Grand. A field of 152 players fought it out for a slice of the $151,633 prize pool, with Brazil's Dennys Ramos busting in 28th and popping the money bubble.

The likes of Dan Wilson, Alexandros Theologis, Samuel Vousden, Andrei Kotelnikov, Team Online's Jaime Staples, Jerry Odeen, Joshua McCully, and Christian Rudolph all cashed but fell short of a top nine and, therefore, final table appearance.

Recent winner of the MILLIONS Online Opener PKO event, Vojtech Skalak, finished sixth here for $6,295 only days after winning more than $71,466.

The top four finishers each turned their $1,050 investments into five-figure sums. Johannes Straver collected $10,134 for his fourth-place finish, Andrii Derzhypilskyi netted $14,653 for third, before Leonard resigned Leonard Maue to the $20,745 runner-up prize. Leonard got his hands on the title and $29,731 in prize money.
