Various online poker sites have introduced new tournaments and games to their clients over the years, and 888poker is no exception.

In 2019, the Poker 8 client offered improved graphics and functionality, while last year's new tournament collection made 888poker the perfect poker site for beginners.

Now the latest innovation to the 888poker client is Mystery Bounty tournaments. Launched this weekend with the $100,000 Mystery Bounty Kickoff, the event was a "booming success" says 888poker.

"marllonsanti" Wins 888poker's $100,000 GTD Mystery Bounty Kickoff

The inaugural Mystery Bounty Kickoff generated a field of 1,887 players — almost doubling the guaranteed prize pool to $188,700. It was a Brazilian one-two with "Marlon Santi" agreeing to a heads-up deal with "supppp", who had come into the final table as chip leader.

However it was third-place "ProfaNic" from Germany who won the most in bounties at the final table, finishing with $1,893 for total cashes of $12,170.

The largest bounty of all was $10,000, won by 89th place finisher "brubsb", while 100th place finisher "Eg1d1" cashed for $263, but took home $3,000 worth of bounties!

Even better, Lithuania's "rupuziokas" finished 338th and failed to cash, but won $3,000 worth of bounties — not bad for a $109 buy-in tournament!

888poker Ambassadors React to Mystery Bounty Tournament Introduction

Ian Simpson

No doubt all the players at the final table enjoyed the Mystery Bounty tournament, and 888poker Ian Simpson says he was glad that the new feature went down so well with the player base.

"The higher-ups at 888 hinted that a Mystery Bounty was something they were interested in doing," Simpson told PokerNews. "They didn’t let on just when it would happen, so when I saw it in the client I was extra excited! The added dimension of the fluctuating bounty value makes for an additional piece to the already complex puzzle that is poker.

"The fact that some of the bounties are incredibly juicy made the tournament so much fun. Even when someone else was winning a bounty it was a sweat because you don’t want them taking the big $10,000 one preventing you from getting it!"

Meanwhile Vivian Saliba said she can't wait to play in the next Mystery Bounty tournament on 888poker, saying the organizers "nailed it!"

"After it's first edition I am ready to say that the Mystery bounty is my new favorite tournament on 888poker. It changes the dynamics that we are all used to and brings this exciting surprise aspect that makes the experience of playing a tournament like this extremely unique and fun.

"In a way the game is a bit "looser" with players trying to accumulate chips from the beginning. When a player would be eliminated the envelope of that players head would move to the center of the table and everyone could see how much that bounty was worth.
The cool "MB" button showed in real time what bounties and how many of each one were still available - I was checking it every couple of minutes wishing that the incredible $10K top bounty prize would still be available!"
