StormX, the official cryptocurrency partner of PokerGO, is hosting a $5,000 buy-in invite-only poker tournament March 3 at the PokerGO Studio in Las Vegas, and a number of big name pros and star athletes will be in attendance.

The list of talent among the 81 participants includes 16-time World Series of Poker (WSOP) bracelet winner Phil Hellmuth, NBA Hall of Famer Paul Pierce, and popular poker pros Maria Ho and Tom Dwan. Additionally, numerous crypto founders will compete for the $405,000 minimum prize pool (plus $5,000 rebuys), and fans can watch it live on YouTube beginning at 3 p.m. PT.

Bringing Crypto and Poker Together

The upcoming StormX Invitational Poker Tournament is the first of many partner events expected between PokerGO and StormX, an easy-to-use app that gives Crypto Cashback up to 5% on purchases.

“We're excited to host the first of many events that bring together a wide range of entrepreneurs, investors, poker pros, and celebrities to create an enjoyable event that will be streamed globally,” said Simon Yu, CEO and Co-Founder of StormX.

On top of the aforementioned stars set to compete, the special poker tournament will also feature PokerGO's Jeff Platt, UFC ring announcer Bruce Buffer, NASCAR driver Landon Cassill, and poker pros Nick Schulman, David Williams, and Matt Berkey.

The crypto influencers in the field include Litecoin founder Charlie Lee, who recently appeared on the Doug Polk Podcast, and popular YouTuber DJ Crypto.

Poker fans and crypto investors alike can watch their favorite stars and influencers compete for a six-figure prize pool. With unlimited rebuys added on, the pot could hit $800,000, or potentially even higher.

"I absolutely cannot wait to compete in the StormX Invitational,” Maria Ho said. “The event has all the ingredients to be one of the most fun and entertaining events of the year, especially for the global viewing audience. The synergies between the worlds of poker and crypto are undeniable, and it's great to see PokerGO and StormX further the collaboration of these two passionate communities."

Ho is one of the top female poker players of all-time, and also a popular regular commentator on PokerGO. She has over $4.2 million in live tournament cashes according to the Hendon Mob.

Viewers Can Win Money

Those who won't be competing in the invite-only poker tournament can still win some money from StormX. The revolutionary app is offering up a "Road to Vegas" contest on Twitter. All you have to do is retweet and like the following post and correctly predict the winner of the March 3 tournament.

Without making any concrete predictions or attempting to influence your thought process, picking a poker pro to win a poker tournament among a field of recreational poker players certainly wouldn't be an awful idea.

That said, don't count out the celebs such as Paul Pierce and Bruce Buffer, both of whom have shown to be competent poker players on Poker After Dark and other poker shows.
