GGMasters Overlay

There were two very happy people upon the completion of the GGMasters Overlay Edition. The first was Albania's "Sr_Duck", who won the event for $343,564. The second was GGPoker ambassador Daniel Negreanu.

Negreanu, in the run-up to the tournament, had promised to shave his head if there wasn't an overlay in the event. Luckily for the Canadian, the $5 million guarantee could not be surpassed. Final figures showed a total of 33,133 entries, meaning $4,572,354 was collected for the prize pool and a further $397,596 was generated in tournament fees ($138+$12).

Day 2 Recap

Late registration for the event was open until Day 2 kicked off and when the second day of action got underway, there were 7,097 players. A decent portion of those entries would walk away empty-handed as the top 4,800 places would get paid.

EPT Prague €25,000 Single-Day High Roller IV winner Rodrigo Selouan was unable to add to his recent €318,370 haul and was one of the first eliminations of the day. GGPoker Twitch Squad's Kevin Martin started the day with a six big blind stack and seemed to have spun it up in the early goings. However, he would narrowly miss out on the money, finishing in 4,829th.

"listarxos" would be the unfortunate player to be ousted on the bubble. Their elimination meant those in the money had locked up a payday of at least $304.

Notables who would be eliminated in the early paid places included 888poker Stream Team member Jordan Banfield (2,997th - $401), Jessica Teusl (2,746th - $401) and Niklas Astedt (2,249th - $460). Natural8 streamer Rebeca Rebuitti fared a little better, finishing in 1,937th for $527.

The payouts would reach the four-figure mark when just 806 players remained and famous faces who fell at this stage were players such as Mark "Weazel_1991" Rubbathan (754th - $1,049), Christophe "ChrisDM" De Meulder (584th - $1,204) and Johan "YoHViraL" Guilbert (206th - $2,746).

"daydream911" was the last elimination before the nine-handed final table and all players who had reached this point had secured a prize of at least $34,357. Known players to make the final table were Niv "Malach" Malach and Wellington "ZaaKiiu" Oliveira. They would then bow out in fifth and seventh place, respectively.

The knockouts of "Iwolfwhite" and "BJHorseman" would then set up the heads-up battle between "Sr_Duck" and "CallMeEasy", which the former would win.

The champion took home the title and $343,564 up top while the runner-up had to settle for $257,637.

How Did the Day 1 Chip Leaders Get On?

You can't win a tournament on the first day (unless it's a single-day event) and the Day 1 top ten chip stacks found out this to be true once again. Although all the players below made the money, they all would have hoped to emulate "Sr_Duck".

Russia's "sword1986" fared best out of the Day 1 chip leaders, finishing in 465th for $1,381.
