GGPoker BBJ

It may be Blue Monday for some but it is definitely isn't for a handful of GGPoker players who benefitted from the biggest ever Omaha Bad Beat Jackpot (BBJ) to be paid out on the platform. On Saturday, January 15 a whopping $593,177 was split among the six players at the virtual table with Ibai Delgado taking the lion's share of the jackpot.

Quads Over Quads for Record Breaking Bad Beat Jackpot

The hand played out on a $10/$20 Pot-Limit Omaha cash game table with "bilaterale1" opening the action to $70 with KK77. Delgado then three-bet to $240 with AQQ5 which his opponent called. Both players hit the flop hard with Delgado flopping quads while "bilaterale1" had a full house. "bilaterale1" led out on the flop for $188.30 before firing for $443.30 on the 2 turn. All the money then piled in on the K river to trigger the BBJ.

Delgado's misfortune netted him $366,159 while "bilaterale1" scooped $114,916 and the $5,067 pot. Just for being at the table, all the remaining players were given $29,293.

"GGPoker's biggest Bad Beat Jackpot yet - almost $600K - was shared out between six Omaha players, with the player who's quad queens were cracked snagging $366K for their troubles!" said Paul Burke, Head of PR at GGPoker. "We love seeing these huge amounts won by our cash game players, and hopefully some more record-setting jackpots will drop in the coming weeks."

GGPoker's December Bad Beat Jackpot Bonanza

The latest promotion payout came shortly after it was announced that GGPoker had given $15 million back to players in Bad Beat Jackpot payouts in 2021. Shockingly, over one million of that sum was paid out in one weekend in December 2021, with the BBJ paying out on five occasions in total. What is even more crazy is that one player, "phil_sn", hit the jackpot twice in that weekend alone!

"phil_sn" first lost with quad nines to quad queens for $35,135 and then twelve hours later he rivered quad sevens to beat the quad three's held by "anneefish". "phil_sn" added a further $11,018 to his jackpot haul while "anneefish" collected $35,374.

The previous BBJ record also came in the $10/$20 PLO streets and saw "airline22" flop four-of-a-kind tens before their opponent, "RagnarLod", rivered a queen-high straight flush. "Airline22" saw $352,346 head their way while $108,963 went to "RagnarLod". All other players at the table received a sizeable $28,188 prize.

How To Qualify for GGPoker's Bad Beat Jackpot

To be one of the recipients of GGPoker's Bad Beat Jackpot, you need to be playing one of their poker cash games.

In Hold'em Rush and Cash Hold'em, the jackpot is paid out if a player loses with aces full of kings. In PLO Rush, Cash PLO and Short Deck Poker, the minimum hand required to lose is quad nines and in PLO-5 is is quad jacks.

To trigger the jackpot, the following conditions need to have been met:

  1. Hand must go to showdown.
  2. Both the winner and the loser must use both hole cards (two hole cards for PLO/PLO-5) to make the best five card hand combination.
  3. Pocket pairs are required for winner/loser's four of a kind.
