MSPT Returns to San Diego’s Sycuan Casino Sept. 16-26

May 2021 marked a first for the Mid-States Poker Tour, as the MSPT stopped by the San Diego, California area for the first time in the tour’s history. That event, the MSPT Showdown Series, unfolded as a massive success for the tour and the venue, Sycuan Casino in El Cajon, CA.
The MSPT rolls back through Sycuan Casino this month. The MSPT United States Poker Championship takes place Sept. 16-26, bookended by a pair of six-figure guarantee tournaments.
The San Diego series begins with the $360 buy-in, $100,000 guaranteed Regional Event, slated for Sept. 16-19. The May MSPT Showdown Series kicked off with an identical event, with 1,047 players pushing the final prize pool to $314,100.
The United States Poker Championship finishes up with the $1,110 USPC Main Event, which guarantees $300,000 and is scheduled for Sept. 23-26. The Showdown Series also featured an $1,110 Main Event, with the prize money in that tournament finishing at $654,200.
If the MSPT’s inaugural San Diego stop offers any indication, the United States Poker Open could see the guarantees go well past the advertised prize pools.
The series features 11 trophy events, including the $400 Pot-Limit Omaha Championship, the $200 MSPT Ladies Event, and several others. PokerNews will be on hand to live report the $360 Regional Event and the $1,110 Main Event.
