2021 PASCOOP Day 16: Main Event Down to 47 With $46K Up Top

4 min read
The Main Event is down to a few tables in PASCOOP.

The 2021 PokerStars Pennsylvania Spring Championship of Online Poker (PASCOOP) kicked off on April 17 and will run through May 3, offering more than $2 million in guaranteed prize pools with buy-ins as low as $5 up to $1,000. The highlight of the series is the two-day $300 buy-in Main Event on May 2 featuring a $200,000 guaranteed prize pool.

Each of the 40 events is comprised of three different tournaments – a High, Medium, and Low buy-in – meaning there’s a total of 120 tournaments. Through the first 16 days of the series, 117 events have run their course, catering to 44,886 combined entrants and awarding $2,569,351 in prize money in the process.

The big news on Sunday was of course the start — and finish, for the Medium and Low events — of the Main Event. That tournament offered a $200K guarantee for the $300 High that dwarfed everyone other prize pool in the series, while the Medium and Low promised $40K and $20K, respectively. All of the target numbers were easily met.

After a brisk seven-and-a-half hour day in the High Main Event, it was "22EPL" going on a tear at the end of the night, including busting "Danieldanielson" on the last hand of play to bag up a staggering 9,823,595, which is nearly double their nearest competitor, "kingboss93".

It was a rough day for the PokerStars Ambassadors, as Keith "whoopsboom" Becker, Jennifer "JenShahadePA" Shahade, and Mark "NaigoPA" Foresta all fell short of making the money. "WHATWHYNO", Matt "thewhitesmith" McNeil, and Matt "shutdafkupdonny" McKinney also were unable to break through for a cash.

The money was reached around the sixth hour of play, after "wolfofbroadst88" got rivered by "PrincessLump", who managed to parlay that elimination into 104th place for a $610.43 payday. Joining them on the rail with some cash were "KaseyAngela" (60th - $973.47), "CoreytheLoud" (86th - $770.86), and Nick "cooooooch" Amicucci (115th - $610.43).

Play will resume at 6 p.m. EST on Monday for the remaining 47 players, and blinds will begin where they ended tonight, at 30,000/60,000/8,750 for another minute. Then, blinds will continue to increase at 15-minute intervals for the remainder of the tournament. Play will continue until a winner is crowned, with that player taking home $46,410 absent a deal being struck.

"fubadbeatbob," Rob "garbanzoprince" Lavin Among Notable Winners

The biggest winner of the day was "fubadbeatbob," who has made several final tables in the series but been unable to cinch up the top prize. They finally prevailed, and they picked a good event to do, in the $75 PASCOOP Main Event Mid, locking up $9,380.

The $30 Low went to "s3agoat1" who took down $4,485.

Another notable event to play out was 37-H $200 PLO [6-Max], $15K GTD. The biggest four-card event of the series, 37-H would draw 87 runners for a $16,182 prize pool. Rob "garbanzoprince" Lavin emerged as the victor for $3,946. It was his second win of the series after also shipping the 17-M: $30 5-Card PLO [6-Max] for $926.

Monday's action, meanwhile, will see PASCOOP wrap. In addition to the close of the Main Event, there's an old-fashioned nine-handed no-limit hold'em event — $100, $30 and $10 with $25K, $10K and $5K guaranteed — and then a six-max hyper progressive knockout to wrap it all up.
