2014 World Series of Poker champion Martin Jacobson has teamed up with fellow poker pro Farid Jattin to offer a new way of studying poker at an elite level.
The pair have put their minds and resources together in order to bring the poker community a comprehensive poker road map on the most valuable knowledge needed to succeed in tournament poker.
When Does The Course Take Place?
The group course will take place via Zoom and Jacobson says that by the end of the course, students will be able to better understand the fundamentals of the game.
"Due to the complexity of the game," said Jacobson. "We've optimized the course by focusing on principles which are applicable to multiple situations. To summarize, we won't only teach you WHAT to do but also explain WHY we do it."
With concepts such asRFI (Raise First In) Charts, Defending the Big Blind, Bubble Play and Final Table Play all featured, Jacobson also said that the course will feature some special guest appearances along the way.
Martin and Farid Poker Achievements
Martin and Farid have a long list of accomplishments in poker over the last decade and say that they are looking forward to sharing their experience with players looking to improve their game.
If you're not sure if the course is right for you, don't worry. While most of their students have been playing semi-professionally for years, there is also space for those who are looking to accomplish their own individual goals.
“I’ve had a wide range of students from mid-stakes recreationals to high-stakes regulars,” Jattin pointed out about his previous courses. “I think it’s more geared to the semi-professionals since it’s not solver heavy but my high-stakes students have all been crushing after the class.”
Studying poker on your own can be quite overwhelming and in all honesty, pretty boring. That is why Martin and Farid have designed the course to be studied in a group environment.
"The course is structured in a way where Farid and I will begin each class by presenting topics in a visual and engaging way. Questions and discussions are flowing organically throughout the class which further elevates everyone's progress."
An alternative to the standard online course where you stream and watch on your own, this course will provide close-knit group coaching in an interactive face-to-face format.
Course Aims to Include the Social Side of Poker
In what has been a challenging past 12 months especially for the live poker community, Jacobson was reminded how important the social aspect is to the game, something he has really missed. The former world champion attributes a lot of his success to the real-life conversations and hand histories he partakes in during live tournaments. So why not align this aspect with the study element in a time when we need it the most.
"We are a good team and bring different aspects to the course, looking at things from different angles and getting to the best possible outcome,” Jacobson added. “Perhaps most importantly, as much as we love playing poker, we both find it more rewarding to share our knowledge and experience to help up and coming players succeed."
As for Farid who has already had great success with group coaching in the past, he is using his time away from live poker to find time in another passion.
“With everything shifting to online during the pandemic, I felt like I wasn’t being productive and I wasn’t really providing value to the community. This course gave me a perfect chance to do both.”
Courses will run every Tuesday and Thursday through January and February with the first course beginning on January 12th. Each session will be two hours long, with the 20-hour course running for five weeks. The low cost of $1,500 equates to $75/hour with students having the option of two time slots to choose from on each day to suit their needs. With the purchase of a full package, you will also gain access to the discord channel for members only. All you need is access to a computer and Zoom account.
There are still a few spots remaining with each course being capped at 15 students to keep them personal and offer each student the most value. To receive more info and to sign up, simply send an email to [email protected] or [email protected].
