Online Poker and Gaming Collide in The Big Deal

Team Online's Jeff Gross will be gunning for Big Deal glory

The Big Deal is a new concept created by partypoker, one that brings the worlds of online poker and eSports together in an exciting format.

There has always been a crossover between online poker and gaming, Such luminaries as Bertrand “ElkY” Grospellier and Griffin “Flush Entity” Benger were gaming stars before excelling at poker.

partypoker is running The Big Deal, a special tournament starting at 5:00 p.m. GMT on November 14, which combines the best of poker with eSports.

Team partypoker members Jeff Gross, Jaime Staples, and Matthew Staples are among those representing poker. They’re set to lock horns with some gaming greats, including Dota 2 players Troels “SynderN” Nielsen and Ted J. “Pyrionflex” Forsyth, plus the likes of “Quill18” and Jeffry “SjoW” Brusi.

There is a $50,000 prize pool up for grabs but it is The Big Deal’s unique format that makes this a must-watch event. Each player is streaming The Big Deal on their own Twitch channel. Those players have three lives and when they bust for a third time, the busted players’ Twitch followers “raid” the player who sent their hero to the rail.

Joey Ingram and Maria Ho will commentate and analyse the action when The Big Deal reaches the final table. They’ll be doing so from the Beyond the Summit Studio in Los Angeles, a vast venue that usually hosts the world’s biggest Dota 2 events.

Beyond the Summit is providing the partypoker TV Twitch channel with cards-up coverage and highlights, so make sure you tune in and watch the action unfold.
