About the WSOP BIG 50
Everything is big about the BIG 50 except the $50 buy-in. As we already mentioned, the tournament boasts a massive $1 million guarantee. This alone will attract a huge field, nevermind the prospect of winning a bracelet for just $50 or even less via satellites.
The tournament features 15 opening flights from Aug. 16-23. Players start with a modest stack of 5,000 in chips with blinds increasing every 12 minutes.
Each flight ends after 20 blind levels are in the books with surviving players scheduled to battle it out for one more day of action featuring 15-minute blind levels on Aug. 23 at 6:30 p.m. GMT / 2:30 p.m. EDT.
Players can re-enter once per flight. This even applies to those that virtually bagged chips in earlier flights as the tournament allows players to bring their best stack forward to Day 2.
The tournament needs at least 21,740 entrants to surpass the guarantee. This may sound massive but it turns out it really isn't.
The $1 million guarantee is merely a placeholder with the event already attracting 13,579 entrants through the first five opening flights with double that still yet to be played. So we could be looking at a field of 40,000 entrants if not more.
