The Weekend Preview

The weekends are made for playing poker, especially this weekend with more than 25% of the planet on lockdown due to the ongoing COVID-19 coronavirus epidemic.

This week we look at tournaments from GGPoker, Betfair Poker, and PokerStars. The POWERFEST at partypoker is also running, so tournament aficionados have plenty get their teeth into. Let’s begin!

GG Masters Now Has $500,000 Guaranteed!

The GG Masters had a $300,000 guaranteed prize pool only two weeks ago. Last week saw the guarantee increased to $400,000 and now there’s half a million dollars on the line for only a $150 buy-in.

GGPoker is the place to play the GG Masters, this Sunday at 7:00 p.m. CET. It needs to attract a field of more than 3,600 players (the tournament costs $138+$12) to hit the ambitious guarantee, which is going to be difficult because the tournament is a freezeout.

Reach the money places to receive Player of the Year points in addition to a slice of the juicy prize pool. These points add up over the course of 2020 and a $500,000 sponsorship package is awarded to whoever accumulates the most points come the end of the year.

Those finishing second-place through 20th on the Player of the Year leaderboard also win a prize, namely GG Masters tickets for all of 2021, which is worth $7,800 at today’s prices.

Win your way into this week’s $500,000 GG Masters from only $1.50, or why not use the in-built staking feature and sell some of your action? Whatever you do, don’t miss out on playing this superb tournament.

Fancy Earning $13,000 Per Hour? Win the Sunday Supersonic!

See what's new over at PokerStars

Some poker players prefer tournaments with long blind structures. Others pare action junkies and love the excitement of rapidly increasing blinds. If you fall into camp number two, you need to play the PokerStars Sunday Supersonic.

This $215 buy-in Hyper-Turbo structured tournament is pretty ridiculous. Some 1,028 players bought into last week’s Sunday Supersonic at midnight CET and the champion was crowned 2.5 hours later! Actually, it was 2.5 hours and one minute later but let’s not split hairs.

Brazil’s “edudrake1987” and “Lavrik-mastr” of Kazakhstan chopped the tournament and walked away with $28,623 and $30,025 respectively. First-place should have been $34,391 so winning it would have amounted to more than $13,000 per hour.

You can win your way into this week’s Sunday Supersonic for $27 in a 20-seat guaranteed tournament starting at 11:45 p.m. CET.

Get ready For the Ultimate Sweat at Betfair Poker

Win up to €10K for free at Betfair

Betfair Poker runs its biggest PKO tournament of the month this weekend in the shape of the Ultimate Sweat. This is a €100 buy-in progressive knockout tournament featuring a €50,000 guaranteed prize pool.

You’ll receive at least €45.50 for every opponent you send to the rail. Bust two and you’re essentially freerolling in the event.

€5 buy-in All in Satellites and €10 traditional satellites are scheduled throughout the weekend, giving everyone the chance of playing in this big PKO event.
