Anatoly Filatov Crowned MILLIONS High Roller Champion

Anatoly Filatov got his 2019 Caribbean Poker Party campaign off to the best possible start with a victory in the $10,300 MILLIONS High Roller event. The tournament attracted a stellar crowd of 122-entries who created a $1,220,000 prize pool shared among the top 17 finishers.

Only 22 players returned to the tables on the third and final day of this $10,300 buy-in event. Former World Poker Tour champion Ema Zajmovic was the first player to get her hands on some cash, banking $25,000 for her 17th place finish.
Michael Zhang, Orpen Kisacikoglu, Norbert Szesci, John Krpan, Alex Foxen, Markus Prinz, and Chance Kornuth followed Zajmovic to the rail, the latter bursting the final table bubble.
Each of the nine finalists locked up at least $40,000 and it was Chris “Big Huni” Hunichen who collected this sum. Hunichen won the $25,500 Super High Roller at the 2017 edition of this festival but could only muster a ninth-place finish in this particular tournament.
Malaysia’s Chin Wei Lim busted in eighth-place when his ace-five lost to the dominating ace-jack of Filatov. Anthony Zinno then ran out of steam to fall in seventh-place when he called all-in with ace-king and lost a coinflip against the pocket sevens in the hand of Kristina Holst.
Jouhkimainen Crashes Out in Sixth-Place
Filatov’s teammate in the Team partypoker roster, Joni Jouhkimainen, was the sixth-place finisher. The Finn was all-in with king-seven of hearts against the ace-eight of two-time WSOP bracelet winner Kahle Burns. Burns flopped two pair, Jouhkimainen a flush draw. Burns’ two pair held and the player countt reduced by one.
The final five became six when British pro Scott “Aggro Santos” Margereson’s red sixes lost to the suited ace-king of Fabrizio Gonzalez. A king on the flop sealed the deal for the player known as “DrMiKee” or “SixthSense19” in online poker circles.
Burns then exited in fourth-place at the hands of Holst before Holst herself could not get there with ace-jack against the black jacks of Filatov.
That hand gifted Filatov a massive chip advantage over Gonzalez and it did not take long to press home his advantage. Filatov limped on the button with six-five and Gonzalez checked his option. Gonzalez check-called a pot-sized bet on the king-four-three flop, allowing both players to see the deuce of hearts appear on the turn. Gonzalez now had a wheel but Filatov held the nuts.
Gonzalez checked once more, Filatov made it 3,500,000 to go, and Gonzalez check-raised to 8,000,000. Filatov responded with an all-in shove that Gonzalez snap-called. The river was a ten and this sent Gonzalez home in second-place, leaving Filatov to wi yet another major live tournament.
2019 is Filatov’s Year
Filatov now has almost $5.1 million in live tournament cashes with $1.989 million that sum stemming from his play in 2019. Only a few weeks ago, Filatov finished third in the €100,000 Super High Roller at the WSOP Europe festival for a career-best €907,301 ($1,009,279).
This summer, Filatov cashed 10 times at the WSOP in Las Vegas and managed a sixth-place finish in the $10,400 Bellagio Cup XV. Prior to that, Filatov finished third in the C$10,300 High Roller at the partypoker MILLIONS North America for C$129,400 only two months after a $185,000 score for being the runner-up in another $10,300 High Roller at partypoker MILLIONS South America.
