Ole Schemion

German superstar Ole “wizowizo” Schemion won not one but two major online events at PokerStars on October 13th, going some way to cement his reputation as one of the game’s greats. Schemion collected almost $60,000 for his brace of victories.

Schemion’s first victory came in the $1,050 Sunday Supersonic, which saw 137 players buy in and create a $139,172 prize pool. The hyper-turbo structured six-handed event saw all but one of the finalists bank a five-figure prize.

Sweden’s “anteen” won $7,837 for their sixth-place finish before being joined on the rail by Uruguay’s “ramastar88” who scooped $10,196 for their $1,050 investment. The final four became three when Joris “BillLewinsky” Ruijs fell by the wayside. The talented Dutchman saw the $13,266 fourth-place prize nestle in his account.

Heads-up was set when “newguy88” ran out of steam and busted in third place. The Canadian had to console themselves with a $17,259 score. Schemion and another legitimate superstar in Benjamin "bencb789" Rolle locked horns one-on-one for the title.

It was Schemion who emerged victoriously, banking $29,212 and leaving bencb789 to collect the $22,454 runner-up prize.

Victory number two came in another $1,050 buy-in event, this time the Sunday Warm-Up. This tournament drew in a crowd of 144 players, and the top 17 finishers won a slice of the $144,000 pie.

It was a tournament where any of the nine players who reached the final table could have walked away as a champion since high buy-in events such as these attract the world’s best players. Two such players found themselves heads-up: Ole Schemion and Aliaksei “ale6ka” Boika.

Schemion brushed aside the European Poker Tour champion and secured the $30,225 top prize, resigning Boika to the $23,478 consolation prize.

Earlier at the final table, Viktor “papan9_p$” Ustimov fell in ninth for $4,250 and gained some company on the rail first by “girafganger7” and then by “iamivar,” the latter winning $6,640.

The last four-figure prize went to Alex “steakaddict.” Papazian of Romania, who netted $8,548. It was “cartoon2387” who won $11,004 for busting in fifth before “edudrake1987” fell in fourth and hauled in $14,166.

World Series of Poker Main Event runner-up Dario “Secret_M0d3” Sammartino was the third-place finisher, a result worth $18,237, but it was Schemion who was the man of the hour.

The attendance of the Sunday Million fell again this week, but the $1 million guarantee was still hit. $1,020,400 was shared among the top 1,826 finishers, and the top three players struck a deal for more than $235,000 combined.

Belgium’s “tramonto85” was the first recipient of some deal money, namely $68,851 for their third-place elimination. This set up a heads-up battle between brazil’s Luiz “Giant_Santos” de Melo and “jimmyduraide” who hails from Canada. It was the Brazilian who won the fight and padded their bankroll with $102,920, meaning the Canadian had to make do with $66,496, still an impressive prize from a $215 buy-in tournament.

888poker ran its Rake or Break promotion for its Sunday Whale, meaning if the $25,000 target was not hit, everyone received their $30 tournament fee back in their accounts. This happened because the 45 entrants created a $22,500 prize pool.

Adding the $9,000 top prize to the $30 refund was Preben “prebzzz” Stokkan. He defeated “YSoSerious7” heads-up to secure the title and resign the Ukrainian to a $6,075 consolation prize.

The top five finishers received some prize money. Fifth-place and $1,800 went to “MarkBurtoni”, who was joined on the rail by “tinchoarce” of Argentina, a finish worth $2,250. The penultimate elimination was that of “pactamah23”, who padded their bankroll with $3,375.

This weekend’s $100,000 Sunday Mega Deep was switched to a PKO format. This gave the 455 entrants the chance to win some prize money without actually reaching the top 45 finishing places where half of the $100,000 guarantee was awarded.

Everyone at the nine-handed final table won at least $1,418 with bounties included. This was the haul enjoyed by “Bombertime1” of Argentina.

Austrian star “23NoraB” fell in eighth-place before Maksym “LiverpoolFor” Tshryk and “Placebo36” both lost their stacks to reduce the player count by two. Fifth place and a combined $3,848 went to “pinedinho10” with “RagnAArok” securing a $7,219 payday.

Third place and $7,919 was awarded to “stroposoz”, which set up a heads-up battle between “BeeTheBeagle” and “JonnyJamz”. The former couldn’t quite get the job done and became the bridesmaid, falling in second for $10,182 leaving JonnyJimz to win the $17,074 top prize.
