Shiraz Hasan Leads Day 1b of WPT Borgata Poker Open $3,500 Championship

The second 2019 World Poker Tour Borgata Poker Open $3,500 Championship flight played out Monday night and it was Shiraz Hasan bagging the big stack of 227,500. That is a little behind Mukharji Uppalapati, who finished as the Day 1a chip leader Sunday night with 252,400.

Day 1b attracted 707 runners which along with 1a's 271 brings the current field up to 978 with registration and re-entry will remain open until the start of Level 11 or approximately 2:15 p.m.

Others to make it through Flight B were Henry Tran (213,500), Brian Altman (187,500), Daniel Weinman (186,700), Nick Pupillo (144,600), Luke Vrabel (95,000), and Aaron Massey (93,000).

Another player to compete on Day 1b was Justin Zaki. Late in the day on a K86 flop, the player first to act bet 2,800 into the main pot of about 5,000 and Zaki raised to 7,900.

His opponent called and the dealer burned and turned the 9. The player checked and Zaki tossed out a bet of 12,000.

His opponent check-raised all in and Zaki snap-called off for his last 25,700.

Zaki showed two pair and a flush draw and he was in great shape to double up against his opponent's Big Slick. The 7 completed the board and Zaki improved to a flush to earn the pot and the double up.

Among those to fire and fall on Day 1b were Katie Stone, Lily Kiletto, James Calderaro, Mike Dentalte, Scott Baumstein, Maurice Hawkins, Vanessa Selbst, and defending champ Erkut Yilmaz.

Approximately 500 survivors from the two starting will return to the Event Center on Tuesday, September 17 at 12 p.m. for Day 2 action.
