PokerStars is returning to Russia from Oct. 4 and PokerNews is joining them to bring you all the action from the EPT Open Sochi Main Event.

Sochi has proven to be extremely popular with poker tournament players in recent, which means EPT Open Sochi should be well-attended. Everyone attending the festival will have their tournament needs catered for thanks to a busy schedule, while there are plenty of off the felt activities for everyone to enjoy as well.

EPT Open Sochi Main Event

The highlight of the EPT Open Sochi schedule is the ₽131,600 buy-in Main Event that has ₽70 million (approx. $1.1 million) guaranteed. This tournament last ran in Sep. 2019 and saw 451 unique entrants purchase 198 re-entries to create a ₽75,543,600 ($1,152,201) prize pool. Ninety-five players received a slice of this pie, with Kazakhstan’s Vyachesav Bondartsev being crowned the tournament’s champion.

Bondartsev won ₽12,063,300 ($183,991) after a heads-up deal with Russia’s Evgeniy Leonidov who scooped ₽11,258,700 ($171,719).

EPT Open Sochi High Roller and a Platinum Pass Up for Grabs

Another tournament sure to attract some serious players is the ₽252,000 (approx. $4,150) buy-in High Roller. China’s Wang Meng was triumphant in this event last year, topping a field of 57 entrants to win ₽3,504,000 ($53,350) after a deal with Alesandras Voisnis and Sergey Nakhapetyan.

One lucky player will get their hands on a Platinum Pass for the recently announced 2020 PokerStars Players Championship. The Moneymaker’s Road to the PSPC costs ₽10,500 to enter and awards its champion the first place prize plus a Platinum Pass containing the following:

  • Buy-in to the €22,500 PSPC 2020 event
  • Six nights’ hotel accommodation for two in a five-star hotel
  • Airport transfers
  • Bespoke PSPC merchandise
  • €1,250 for expenses
  • Platinum Pass winner experiences during the PSPC 2020

Off The Felt Activities

PokerStars knows how to help players let their hair down by hosting several off the felt activities. Players attending EPT Open Sochi can enjoy a Players’ Party on Oct. 11 that has live music and a free bar from 10:00 p.m. until midnight.

There’s also a unique bowling competition on Oct. 9, meet and greet with Chris Moneymaker on Oct. 11, karaoke night on Oct. 12, and the chance to meet Dmitry Guberniev, a famous Russian TV presenter and sports commentator, on Oct. 12.
