CSOP RIU Reno

From October 11-21, the ninth edition of Jason Somerville’s Run It Up Reno will take place at Peppermill Resort and Spa, and it’s shaping up to be quite the 11-day festival. In addition to PokerNews live updates, RIU Reno IX will have a full calendar of social events and poker tournaments, including the Charity Series of Poker (CSOP) “Above the Fold” Charity Event to benefit the Folded Flag Foundation.

Event Details

The tournament, the 25th in CSOP history, features a $235 buy-in (with $100 rebuys and $100 add-ons) and will take place on the first day of RIU Reno – Friday, October 11 – in the Naples Ballroom at Peppermill Reno. Free drinks and turkey burgers will be available from 6:00-7:00 p.m. PT with the tournament to kick off right after. The winner of the event will walk away with $5,000 in cash. There will also be final table and bounty prizes, as well as a silent auction to help raise funds for the charity.

“It’s really exciting for us to finally be a part of the Run It Up series,” said CSOP Founder Matt Stout. “Jason Somerville has built a great series with an incredible atmosphere that makes it a perfect partner for CSOP events. I look forward to working together on fun events for great causes.”

CSOP RIU Reno

The idea of a CSOP event at RIU Reno was tossed about last year when Stout traveled from Las Vegas to Reno. Not only did he and Somerville find an opportunity to collaborate, but Stout also went on to top a field of 687 runners to win the RIU Reno VII Main Event for $70,000 by defeating Kevin Martin in heads-up play.

Both Stout and Martin are slated to return, as are Team RIU’s Ricky “RatedGTO” Guan, Arlie Shaban, and Andrew Neeme. In addition, popular vlogger Johnnie “Johnnievibes” Moreno will be there, as will first-time RIU Reno visitor Andy Milonakis.

“It’s really exciting for us to finally be a part of the Run It Up series.”

The Folded Flag Foundation’s mission is to provide educational scholarships and support grants to the spouses and children of the United States military and government personnel who died as a result of hostile action or in an accident related to U.S. combat operations.
