Chris Lane won $185,158 in New Orleans.

The last event of the 2018-19 World Series of Poker Circuit domestic season wrapped up Monday, and it was Chris Lane claiming the final Main Event ring as he won at Harrah's New Orleans for $185,158.

The graphic designer defeated a field of $185,158 for his biggest cash by far, more than doubling his career tournament earnings of around $120,000. It was his first WSOPC ring, although he did already lay claim to an HPT trophy back in 2014.

“I started catching cards left and right constantly," Lane said to tournament officials. "It was great. I never had cards just come to me like this before.”

The 582 entries created a pool of over $880,000, good to surpass the $750,000 guarantee by a comfortable margin. Some of the players among the 63 cashing included Blake Whittington, Kevin Eyster, Dan Lowery, Caufman Talley and DJ Alexander.

Stephen Song, the player with the most points on the Circuit leaderboard this year, took a big stack into Day 2 but would bubble the official final table. According to the live updates, he ran jacks into aces and then lost a flip with sevens against ace-king for the rest of his chips.

Lane made the final table with one of the shorter stacks and then had his aces cracked to boot, so he entered Day 3 with only 24 big blinds as Dustin Stewart led the pack with 100.

Day 3 Action

Stewart's lead would only be furthered early on as he busted fellow big stack Yousef Saleh in a five-bet pot. Saleh couldn't get away from AQ and ran into the blades to bust in seventh and give Stewart an overwhelming lead.

Stewart would go on to bust Billy Phillips as well, and then Lane got going when he raised with K8 and called a shove worth about 15 big blinds from John Templeton, who had AJ. The board ran out king-high for Lane to score the knockout and climb close to 40 bigs.

Lane continued to run well from there as he crept ever closer to Stewart. John Cressend and Jon Guidry were left in their dust and busted fourth and fifth, respectively, setting up the heads-up match between the two leaders with both over 80 big blinds.

Lane opened up about a 2-1 lead and then they played a flip for basically all the money as Lane limped and called when Stewart raised all but his last 100,000, less than a big blind. Bizarrely, the players checked down 79898 and Lane's tens prevailed against QJ.

Unable to mount a miracle comeback, Stewart had to concede after the next hand.

McEvoy Wins a GCC Seat

While Lane booked a seat into the $1 million Global Casino Championship as part of his prize, there was still the matter of the Casino Champion to be decided.

It took until the last event for Aaron McEvoy to pass Dan Lowery but pass him he did as he won a second ring after taking down the first event as well. He won a ticket to the GCC by inching past Lowery's 95 points.
