Throwback Thursday: Jason Koon on the Rail

1 min read

Jason Koon is usually playing at final tables, not watching from the rail. Last week alone, Jason Koon won BOTH the 2019 Triton Poker Super High Roller Series Jeju $1M Short-Deck Ante-Only event for $2,840,945 AND the Triton Refresh HKD 1,000,000 No Limit Hold'em event for $1,128,685 after a heads-up deal with Stephen Chidwick. Koon is currently the world’s all-time short-deck money winner with more than $6.3 million in earnings. Don't forget, Koon is currently eight on Hendon Mob's overall all-time money list with over $21 million in no-limit hold 'em tournament winnings!

This week's Throwback Thursday shows Koon putting his poker mind to work on the rail of the 2014 World Series of Poker Main Event. He tells Sarah Herring how the role of the rail has evolved from drinking and cheering to discovering live reads on the players and crunching ICM (independent chip model) numbers. Koon was working on information for his friend and fellow poker player Martin Jacobson. Those tips from Koon may have aided Jacobson who ended up winning the tournament for $10 million.
