PokerStars has announced two Asia Pacific Poker Tour (APPT) events will take place in Korea and the Philippines in addition to officially opening the PokerStars LIVE at Okada Manila.

PokerStars LIVE at Okada Manila is set to be officially opened with a ribbon cutting on Feb. 9 during the inaugural Okada Manila Millions, a PHP 2,500 (approx. $47) Main Event guaranteeing PHP 2 million (approx. $38,250) prize pool of which PHP 500,000 (approx. $9,550) is reserved for the champion.

March 1-10 are the dates players will flock to the PokerStars LIVE Manila poker room in the Coral Wing of Okada Manila for the Manila Megastack 11. This festival has combined guarantees of PHP 17 million (approx. $325,000), including a PHP33,000 (approx. $630) buy-in Main Event featuring a PHP 10 million (approx. $191,200) guaranteed prize pool.

APPT Korea

APPT Korea takes place at the luxurious Paradise City in the Incheon Complex in South Korea between April 5-14. Four events are on the APPT schedule with combined guarantees worth KRW 430 million (approx. $385,000).

  • APPT KickOff: April 5-6, 2019 - KRW 50,000,000 Guaranteed
  • APPT National: April 7-8, 2019 - KRW 80,000,000 Guaranteed
  • APPT Main Event: April 11-14, 2019 - KRW 1,800,000 - KRW 300,000,000 Guaranteed
  • APPT High Roller: April 13-14, 2019 - KRW 5,000,000

Last year’s APPT Korea Main Event saw a field of 449 entrants smash the KRW 300 million guarantee by creating a KRW 705,558,600 prize pool that was shared among the top 54 finishers. It was Malaysia’s Christopher Soyza who was the last player standing, which earned him KRW 158,700,000 (approx. $149,000).

APPT Manila

This season’s APPT Manila takes place at the official home of PokerStars LIVE Manila, the Okada Manila, from July 26 through Aug. 4. Like APPT Korea, four events are scheduled for APPT Manila and they are certain to be well-attended as Manila is a hotbed of poker in the Philippines.

  • APPT Kickoff: July 26- 27,2019 ₱16,000 - ₱3 Million Guaranteed
  • APPT National: July 28- 29,2019 ₱33,000 - ₱5 Million Guaranteed
  • APPT ₱500K Super High Roller: July 31 ₱500,000
  • APPT Manila Main Event: August 1-4, 2019 - ₱65,000 - ₱20 Million Guaranteed

PokerStars players have happy memories of APPT Manila, especially Marc Rivera who triumphed in last year’s APPT Manila National event. Not only did Rivera get his hands on the equivalent of $86,000, he also won a Platinum Pass that he turned into $2,168,000 by finishing third in the PokerStars Players Championship in the Bahamas in Jan. 2019.

The reigning APPT Manila Main Event champion is Wilson Lim from Singapore, who topped a field of 1,364 entries to scoop the ₱12,970,000 (approx. $245,000) first-place prize after defeating China’s Yuan Li heads up.
