The flagship event of the series, the €4,300 NLH Main Event, dates all the way back to 1992 when the first Main Event was held as a Seven-Card Stud tournament.
Since 1993, the game of choice changed to No-Limit Hold'em, and the long list of champions includes notables such as Ram Vaswani (1999), Joran Storakers (2003), and Robert Mizrachi (2004). Familiar faces etched themselves in MCOP history in recent years by winning the coveted tournament, including Ole Schemion (2012), Noah Boeken (2013), Ruben Visser (2014), Jussi Nevanlinna (2015), and Hakim Zoufri (2016).
The Main Event features two starting days and will play out over the course of five days total. The first starting day is scheduled for Friday, Nov. 23, while Day 1B commences on Tuesday, Nov. 27. The field will then join together on Wednesday, Nov. 28 and play until the winner is crowned on Friday, Nov. 30.
Defending Main Event champion is German high roller Claas Segebrecht, who defeated the red-hot Bart Lybaert heads-up to claim the first place prize of €235,087 and a special trophy plate. Igor Yaroshevskyy and John Juanda also made the final table in 2017.
2018 MCOP Schedule Features Two High Rollers, Four PLO Tourneys
The eleven-day festival kicks off on Wednesday, Nov. 21 with the ever-popular two-day €550 Single Re-Entry.
The first of two High Rollers, the two-day €25,500 Super High Roller, will begin on Saturday, Nov. 24, and unlimited re-entries are allowed up until the start of Day 2.
The €10,300 High Roller will be a three-day affair and cards will go in the air on Thursday, Nov. 29. Last year, the 10K HR was a prey for Joris Ruijs who won €206,242 after defeating Ole Schemion heads-up and denying the German his second victory in Amsterdam. Markus Durnegger, Ivan Luca, and Martin Kabrhel also made the final table.
The MCOP always boasts plenty of enthralling Pot-Limit Omaha action during the week, and to round out the schedule no fewer than four PLO tourneys are hosted to give aficionados of the Great Game even more reason to travel to the Dutch capital. The biggest one, a two-day €3,250 PLO High Roller, will begin on Tuesday, Nov. 22.
PokerNews will be on the floor in Amsterdam to cover all the action in the Main Event, as well as the €25,500 High Roller. For more information and to register for the events, visit the Holland Casino Master Classics of Poker website.
