Zach Schneider Wins WSOPC Hammond for $302K; David Larson Casino Champ
On Monday, the World Series of Poker Circuit wrapped up its stop at East Chicago’s Horseshoe Hammond. The series saw plenty of notables capture rings, such as Wisconsin’s Josh Reichard and PokerNews’ very own Mo Nuwwarah, and culminated with 25-year-old Zach Schneider topping a 1,094-entry field to win the $1,700 Main Event for $302,492.
It was Schneider’s second overall gold ring, both of which have come at Horseshoe Hammond. Back in 2015, he won Event #11: $5,300 High Roller for $101,250.
"I feel blessed," Schneider told WSOP officials after the win. "I ran real well today. I didn't really have any hurdles to get over. Things just kind of flowed naturally. It came to me today."

Schneider eliminated four of the final nine players on his way to victory, including poker pro Nick Pupillo in heads-up play. In the final hand of the tournament, Pupillo bluffed all in on the river after missing a gutshot straight draw and Schneider called with queens and sixes.
"Honestly, I know I'm a pretty good poker player and I've done this for a living for ten plus years," Schneider added. "I know that I have an edge on the field for the most part so I always feel confident. But really it didn't really hit me till today when everything just kind of got out of my way. So, it wasn't really until today that I was confident that big things were happening."
Others to cash the Main Event were Aaron Massey (14th - $19,707), Chris Conrad (26th - $9,679), Jeff Fielder (31st - $7,226), Ralph Massey (52nd - $5,005), and Maurice Hawkins (75th - $3,795).

In other WSOP Circuit news, the $5,300 buy-in High Roller attracted 68 runners and saw local grinder Jason Mangold come out on top to win $119K.
"I've been traveling quite a bit, so it was nice to take one home in my backyard," the 35-year-old Mangold said after his win. “I feel like I had to change my style seven times during this tournament. I think if you talk to different people in this tournament, some would say I'm incredibly passive, others would say I was incredibly aggressive.”

The win came just two months after Mangold finished runner-up to Jacob Baumgartner in the HPT Chicago Main Event for $127,689.
Another big winner at the stop was David Larson, who didn’t win a ring but did secure the Casino Champion title with 85.5 points. Larson had four cashes during the series including two runner-up finishes in Event #4: $600 NLH and Event #10: $400 Omaha Hi-Lo 8 or Better for $14,780 and $7,538 respectively.
