2018 EGR Operator Awards

Going back-to-back is a rare feat in the poker world, but that’s exactly what partypoker did at the annual EGR Operator Awards, which attracted more than 800 industry professionals to Grosvenor House in London over the weekend.

For the second year in a row, partypoker won the title of “Poker Operator of the Year” beating out competition that included the Kindred Group and Stars Group.

Earning EGR Award Honors

The award, which is akin to an e-gaming Oscar, is designed to recognize the top performing operators and affiliates over the last 12 months. Additionally, GVC Holdings, the parent company to partypoker, won “Operator of the Year” as well as “Casino Operator of the Year” titles to complete the hattrick.

“I’m absolutely delighted that the efforts of the team have been recognized for the second year running,” said partypoker Managing Director Tom Waters. “Everyone in the team has worked so hard to get partypoker to where it is now and we are excited about how we can now take it to the next level.”

EGR: “What resonated most was the piece about truly understanding the customer.”

For partypoker, the win follows up their victory in 2017 despite heavy changes to the site’s VIP program, live events roster and poker software. Despite those, Year-on-Year net revenues rose 42 percent.

“[partypoker] provided many examples of their growth and improving returns from their customers, and showed a real mixture of improving the product and customer interaction, stitched together into an overall strategy,” EGR explained in their website. “What resonated most was the piece about truly understanding the customer.”

As for GVC Holdings becoming operator of the year, they had this to say: “It was a transformational year for GVC with both the successful migration of bwin.party and the completion of Ladbrokes Coral acquisition. To complete one merger in this industry is bold, to take on two is truly brave and that GVC have managed to pull it off and emerge with all brands stronger as a result is a truly impressive achievement. And success has been widespread, with all online divisions (Ladbrokes, Coral, Brazil, partypoker) contributing strongly.”
