O'Dwyer Claims Another High Roller, Winning partypoker £25K
While PokerNews has focused its live coverage at partypoker LIVE MILLIONS UK on the large-field events, there were some side events popping that were worth looking at, foremost among those the £25,000 Super High Roller.
The biggest buy-in event at the festival drew 51 entries, and Steve O'Dwyer came out victorious over an expectedly stacked final table that included many of the world's high roller regs. O'Dwyer won £450,000 (~592,000), his 44th cash of at least six figures, and a trophy to add to the slew of others he's acquired in his sterling live poker career.

The final table of the event featured seven recognizable names, six players who would cash and one player who would have to walk away empty-handed.
Unfortunately for top American pro and former WSOP Main Event champ Ryan Riess, he'd be the unlucky bubble player, exiting at the hands of Aymon Hata, according to the live updates (account required).
German crusher Christoph Vogelsang went into the final six as the chip leader, with O'Dwyer lurking in the middle of the pack. As Vogelsang had under 40 big blinds, it was still anyone's game.
Niall Farrell was among those who covered O'Dwyer, and he attempted to put the pressure on with Q♠10♠, shoving over O'Dwyer's late-position open. Unfortunately for him, O'Dwyer had the ace-king and called off his stack of 24 big blinds, doubling on a dead seven-high board. Left with crumbs, Farrell busted in short order for a min-cash.

Big slick was again good to O'Dwyer as he got in a flip with Hata, who had pocket eights and four-bet shoved for 20 big blinds. O'Dwyer paired his king on the flop to send Hata out.
Then, the American transplant took complete command, once again courtesy of ace-king. This time, he was farther behind as Vogelsang picked up kings and they went to war in a battle of the blinds. O'Dwyer simply shoved over Vogelsang's small-blind open to 750,000 at 150,000/300,000/300,000, and the German called off for about 19 million and was dismayed to see he had one out after an ace-high flop.
At that point, O'Dwyer had a vast majority of the 51 million total chips, leaving Orpen Kisacikoglu and Fabrizio Gonzalez with a monumental task.
Kisacikoglu had the bigger stack but had to watch Gonzalez ladder past him courtesy of a bad beat. Kisacikoglu got in with jacks against O'Dwyer's A♥9♥ but an ace river meant he had to settle for third.
O'Dwyer had nearly a 9-1 lead on Gonzalez, who had about 10 big blinds. Gonzalez found the dream spot when O'Dwyer shoved into him and he woke up with pocket aces, but O'Dwyer flopped two pair and turned jacks full with J♦9♥ to end things.
