The Sunday Scrimmage Special at Global Poker on Sept. 2 doubled its regular guarantee to SC$100,000 and easily reached it with 578 players taking their seats Sunday. The total prize pool of the event reached SC$115,600 and Global Poker regular Thomas ‘tdubz224’ claimed the largest payout of SC$21,617 for his win.

“Winning this event really has been a dream come true.”

It was the largest career poker win for the California local, who had final tabled the Sunday Scrimmage twice before when the guarantee was SC$50,000. For the recreational player who has been playing poker his whole life but has tried to get more serious with it in the past year, locking up the Sunday Scrimmage win was an important milestone.

“Winning this event really has been a dream come true,” Thomas said after the victory, which couldn’t have come at a better time.

“I just got married and bought a house in the past six months so this is really helpful for my wife and me.”
