20 | Bernard continues his two-part interview with Joe Cada, four-time WSOP bracelet winner including 2009 WSOP main event champion. |
58 | Joe Cada joins the show and discusses whether he will chase WSOP Player of the year. He currently sits in third place in the standings. “I don’t think I’m going to go over the Europe to play for Player of The Year. I think I would have to win another bracelet and I don’t even know if that would put me up there...I’ve never been about chasing titles or Player of The Year.” |
44 | Joe primarily plays cash games and online during the year. “The only tournaments I play throughout the year is the WSOP events.” |
20 | Joe discusses playing The Closer, busting out on the very first hand of the event and almost didn’t re-enter. However, he then doubled up on the very first hand of his second bullet and he was off and running. |
58 | After such an incredible summer, Joe describes that players were once again coming after him. “The target was extremely back on, as every hand I played, no one ever folded. It was helpful getting some hands and over betting a lot of hands and making a lot of chips.” |
02 | Joe recalls a crucial double up and began thinking that he might be able to win The Closer. “I just felt so confident at that point the way the last 10 days had been going.” |
22 | Joe describes how smoothly the final table of The Closer went for him, including only one hand heads-up. |
22 | Bernard and Joe discuss how his game is better today as compared to 2009, but relative to the current players, his game is not much better than the general poker population. “Competition always gets better and you always have to be playing to stay at the top… Back when I was 15 to 21 years old, I was easily in the top ten people online who had played the most hands in the world… But today, I don’t have the same dedication as I did in 2009… But I don’t play nearly as much as I used to play and I know that people are playing that much. I’m not naïve to the fact that there are a lot more better players than me now.” |
40 | Joe discusses why he never got into mixed games. |
00 | Joe explains why he doesn't want to chase WSOP bracelets causing unnecessary stress in his life. |

17 | Kelly recalls how she organized her poker schedule prior to the WSOP Main Event. |
44 | Kelly discusses balancing her work/personal life with playing poker. “I know where I need to be mentally to play my best game, and I just can’t be there if I’m playing 12-hour days, five days a week.” |
08 | Bernard asks Kelly how excited she was heading into this year’s WSOP. “I was really excited. Taking the time off really revved up and I was ready to go.” |
16 | Kelly discusses the state of woman in poker, especially the ones that continually do well, e.g. Maria Ho and Gaelle Baumann. |
44 | Kelly expresses her thoughts on the prospect of a woman making the WSOP main event final table. “I think a deep run (by a woman) would inherently create a poker boom. I think it would be great for the game, not just for women but for people in general just to get excited about the game.” |
44 | Kelly discusses her aggressive poker playing style. “It was natural for me to be an aggressive player. When I see a lot of passive play, I just inherently want to fight for (the chips).” |
