Global Poker is constantly throwing its players curve balls in the form of fun and juicy promotions, but now, they’re taking it to an all-new level. The online poker site has teamed up with Major League Baseball (MLB), effectively combining one of America’s favorite hobbies with America’s favorite pastime.

MLB + Poker

The first official Global Poker and MLB event recently took place at Minute Maid Park, home of the Houston Astros. Poker tables were set up inside the stadium for game attendees to play some hands and try to win prizes and swag, and from the looks of it, fun was had by all.

"Baseball is America's favorite pastime. Poker is America's favorite game, and putting the two together just makes perfect sense."

For Global Poker, partnering with MLB and the great sport of baseball is a perfect fit.

"Baseball is America's favorite pastime. Poker is America's favorite game, and putting the two together just makes perfect sense," said Joseph Del Duca, Head of Communications and Social Media at Global Poker.

An event attendee in Houston agreed.

"People that are into baseball are into competitive sport. People in poker are in a competitive sport, so those might just go together."

It’s official: baseball and poker both provide a competitive thrill, and putting the two together can make for even more excitement. Just ask Brian Tamplen, who got to step onto the mound in Houston and throw out the ceremonial first pitch, all for winning a tournament on Global Poker.

Global Poker Goes to San Francisco

The next Global Poker MLB event will take place Friday, Sept. 14 at AT&T Park at 5 p.m. PT before the San Francisco Giants take on the Colorado Rockies. Once again, Global Poker will be on hand to give baseball fans a taste of poker, with free Global Poker and San Francisco Giants merchandise up for grabs. All that is needed to get in on the fun is a game ticket.

Be on the lookout for more Global Poker partnerships with America’s favorite pastime, including branding in stadiums, while you’re watching games. With post-season baseball right around the corner, the action is heating up on the field — and on the felt.

If you haven’t tried Global Poker tables yet, you can get a free account today and start trying out your poker skills against other recreational players throughout the U.S. and Canada. Just as in baseball, the only way to take your game to another level is by getting those repetitions in.

Global Poker is solely available to players in the U.S. and Canada.
