Short Deck Hold’em Event Makes 2018 Poker Masters Schedule
Short Deck Hold’em is taking the world by storm. Already a mainstay on the popular Triton Poker Super High Roller Series, the exciting tournament variant is set to make its Poker Masters debut on Sept. 10.
The Poker Masters is one of the most eagerly anticipated poker festivals of the year, especially for fans of the game who love to see poker’s elite go head-to-head in high-stakes events. This latest edition of Poker Masters takes place at ARIA Resort & Casino between Sept. 7-13, during which time seven massive events are scheduled, all streamed exclusively on PokerGo, with PokerNews providing live updates.

Short Deck Hype
Director of Poker Operations at ARIA, Sean McCormack, believes Short Deck could be the future of the game.
“No-Limit Hold’em remains the Cadillac of Poker, but players have been looking for the next evolution. We believe Short Deck is it. Players are both intrigued and excited for the challenge of learning Short Deck and ARIA Poker is happy to announce this change to the 2018 Poker Masters schedule.”
“It’s great to see the first Short Deck tourney reach American soil."
Team partypoker’s Jason Koon, who won a Short Deck event in Montenegro for almost $3.6 million, is also understandably excited to see Short Deck Hold’em make its live streamed debut in the United States.
“It’s great to see the first Short Deck tourney reach American soil. ARIA run the best tournaments in the world and hopefully there are lots more in the future.”
Koon will be joined by a whole host of the world’s best poker players, including Germany’s Steffen Sontheimer who won two Poker Masters events and finished fifth in one in 2017 for combined cashes of $2,733,000.
PokerNews would also expect man of the moment Justin Bonomo to make an appearance during the festival as he continues to ride the heater of a lifetime. Bonomo has already won a staggering $24,945,435 this year alone and will no doubt be looking for more seven-figure cashes during the rest of 2018.
