Joseph Cheong Victory Closes Out DeepStack Championship Poker Series
The Venetian Las Vegas wrapped up its summer DeepStack Championship Poker Series this past weekend with well-known poker pro Joseph Cheong winning Event #142: $400 NLH Closer for $69,000.

The two-day tournament, which drew 1,078 entries and created a $400,000 prize pool ($33,480 overlay honored by Venetian), featured five starting flights and began players with 15,000 in chips. Day 1 was played with 30-minute levels, which were increased to 40 minutes on Day 2.
Others to cash the tournament were Jason Corrigan (15th - $4,800), 888poker Ambassador Chris Moorman (24th - $2,720), Stacy Fee (39th - $1,360), Aaron Massey (47th - $1,240), and Fei Li (56th - $1,240).
The win brought Cheong’s live tournament earnings up to $12,577,876. It was his third win at the Venetian complimenting the $28,500 he won for taking down the 2016 Venetian DeepStack Extravaganza III Event #32: $1,100 NLH Turbo. He also won the 2016 Venetian DeepStack Extravaganza IV Event #50: $400 NLH for $28,247,

Other DeepStack Champions
The DeepStack Championship Poker Series crowned hundreds of winners over the course of the summer. Among those to capture titles in the last week were David Charalambous, who won Event #148: $300 NLH Rebuy for $9,124; Prasanna Nambi, winner of Event #147: $300 NLH SuperStack for $7,114; and Maximano Filho, who took down Event #143: $200 NLH Bounty after a four-way deal for $2,096.
Some notables who captured titles earlier in the summer were Antoine Saout (Event #34: $600 SuperStack for $137,504), Matt Affleck (Event #28: $1,100 Summer Kick-Off for $115,273), and Sean Jazayeri (Event #18: $600 SuperStack for $68,027).

The Venetian will next host the DeepStack Extravaganza III from September 3-23. The series is comprised of 32 tournaments offering a combined $1.2 million in guaranteed prize pools.
