Unibet Open Heads to Bucharest July 30 to Aug. 5
The Unibet Open returns to the Romanian capital of Bucharest for the third time in its 11-year tour history for tons of poker action, parties, and other exclusive events on July 30 to Aug. 5 at the luxurious JW Marriott Bucharest Grand Hotel.
Among those confirmed to attend the festival are many Unibet ambassadors including Ian Simpson, Dara O’Kearney, David Lappin, Espen Jorstad, Daiva Byrne, Rauno "Estonian Jesus" Tahvonen, and Dan Murariu.
Molly Bloom, the subject of the Oscar-nominated film Molly's Game, will also be on hand for a book signing, a press conference, open the cash games, and host the #QueenRules €90 Ladies Tournament on Aug. 3.
“We’re absolutely thrilled to have secured Molly for our event," said Unibet Open’s Head of Events Nataly Sopacuaperu. "Molly’s Game has been highly rated by poker players for bringing the poker scene to life on screen and I’m especially pleased that Molly will be opening our #QueenRules Ladies event. This is a new variant of the game using a special deck in which the Queen outranks the King. It’s all part of our campaign to build conversations around gender bias and gender equality. We couldn’t have a more fitting participant than Molly Bloom who challenged stereotypes during her time as the Poker Princess.”
The festival features many exciting tournaments with PokerNews on hand to cover the biggest three in the €1,100 Unibet Open Main Event, the €2,200 Unibet Open High Roller, and the Unibet Esports Battle Royale X as well as provide featured content throughout the festival.
The Main Event on Aug. 2-5 is obviously the highlight of the festival. Last year, Romania's Marius Pertea outlasted a field of 502 entrants to hoist the trophy and claim the €90,925 top prize.
The Main Event kicks off with three opening flights on Aug. 2-3 with players beginning with a huge stack of 30,000 in chips. The first two opening flights feature long 60-minute blind levels while the third one is a turbo affair with blinds increasing every 20 minutes. Players can reenter one time on Day 1c.
Surviving players will play for two more days until the latest Unibet Open Main Event champion is crowned.
The two-day High Roller takes on Aug. 1-2 and will attract many big names including some of the already mentioned Unibet Poker ambassadors. The tournament features 40-minute blind levels and unlimited reentry until late registration closes at the conclusion of Level 7.
Meanwhile, the special €10,000 invitational Battle Royale freeroll takes place on Aug. 1 and will feature Unibet-sponsored eSports players competing for a €5,000 first prize.
