Alex Hendriks Leads Baker’s Dozen into MPNPT Bratislava Main Event Final Day
Day 2 of the €550 MPN Poker Tour Bratislava Main Event coincided with the Bratislava marathon, a different sort of endurance test than that faced by the 106 returning poker players. Now just 13 remain, with their hopes pinned on an MPNPT title and the €30,000 top prize that accompanies it. In the lead is Alex Hendriks with 1,145,000, closely followed by Day 1a’s chip leader Danijel Kucurski.
It was a hard fight around the bubble, culminating in the elimination of Georgios Drakakis in 46th place. He received a surprise consolation entry into the next MPNPT stop at Sunny Beach, Bulgaria on July 5-8, which softened the blow of missing out on a €900 min-cash.
Finishing in the money, but shy of making the final day were Ian Simpson and Mantas Urbonas (42nd and 40th, for €900), Day 2 entrants Dara O’Kearney and Dara Davey (taking home €1,200 for 26th and 22nd respectively), and Monika "HeyMonia" Zukowicz (16th for €1,600). MPNPT Tallin champion Keimo Suominen saw his hopes of another final table fail after he busted in 14th place for €2,000.
Suominen may have been the longest lasting player wearing the Paf qualifier logo, but the prize (a package for the next MPNPT stop worth €1,500 courtesy of Paf) went to Jari Hurri, who was playing his original buy-in. The Betsson Group’s last-longer, also awarding a package, is still up in the air, with three players left in contention.
A total prize pool of €159,565 was generated by a 329-entry field, representing dozens of nationalities and every sort of player from the professional to the local recreational poker enthusiast. Click here for a review of Day 2 and payouts from the Main Event thus far.
Play resumes at 13:00, with live streaming beginning at 13:30 to allow for the cards-up delay. Watch on Twitch or the MPN Poker Tour Facebook page. In addtion, any major action will be recapped at the live mpnpokertour.com blog.
