Kara Scott’s 888poker Brief Returns for 2018 0001

888poker released a YouTube show during 2017 called The Poker Brief. Hosted by Kara Scott, the 888poker ambassador, The Poker Brief takes a look at the goings on in the poker world, including big wins, upcoming tournaments and more.

The Poker Brief returned on Feb. 2 with the first edition of the new year. Scott starts off by talking about the winners of the Global Poker Index’s Player of the Year awards. If you follow PokerNews regularly you will know that Adrian Mateos was crowned Player of the Year for 2017 after a fantastic year that included winning his third World Series of Poker bracelet.

In a step that is unusual in the poker world, Scott goes on to talk about the PokerStars Caribbean Poker Adventure, which is run by PokerStars, rivals to 888poker. Poker sites rarely give a nod to one another; perhaps this step by 888poker could start what would be a welcomed trend.

Keeping with the PCA, Scott goes on to talk about Neil Johnson leaving his post at Pokerstars; Johnson had been with the company since the inception of the European Poker Tour. Acknowledgements were also given to Vanessa Selbst and Jason Mercier who both declined to renew their sponsorship deals with PokerStars for 2018.

It wouldn’t be an 888poker production without mentioning some 888poker-sponsored events, which is what the WPT Deepstacks Berlin event was. Dustin Mangold won that event for a cool €134,809 after qualifying online for a mere $5.

“InJeBakkes” Wins Bubble of Bubbles Event

The XL Blizzard series was a roaring success and 888poker’s players are tingling with anticipation at being able to play in the next series. One player who is likely to be competing is Netherlands’ “InJeBakkes”, who was crowned the Bubble of Bubbles champion.

This tournament was only open to those who endured the pain of bubbling an XL Blizzard event. After three hours and 20 minutes, "InJeBakkes" came out on top to get his hands on a $3,000 Crazy 8 WSOP package.

“HellChicKKen” is the Champion of Champions

Another exclusive tournament was the Champion of Champions event that was only open to players who had finished in the top 50 in points in the XL Blizzard leaderboard.

Belarus’ “HellChicKKen” won the event and a $12,000 WSOP Vegas package while “POTITOOOOOOO” finished second for a $3,000 Crazy 8 WSOP package and a $1,050 tournament ticket. Shout out also to “Pasha813” of Russia who finished third and banked a $3,000 Crazy 8 WSOP package.

Download 888poker via PokerNews, and you receive a free $88 worth of cash and tournament tickets (a free £20 in the United Kingdom) just for creating your account. Once you make your first deposit, 888poker will match it 100 percent up to an industry-leading $888, giving your 888poker career a significant boost.
