Sunday Million

PokerStars reduced the buy-in for the Sunday Million from $215 to $107.50 on Dec. 10 and it proved a popular move with a staggering 18,973 players buying in, which created a $1,897,300 prize pool.

Some 3,140 players received prize money for the efforts, with the likes of Adrienne “talonchick” Rowsome, Jens “Fresh_oO_D” Lakemeier, Rafael “GM_VALTER” Moraes, Rafael “zugzwang16” Porzecanski, Tom “hitthehole” Middleton and Dara “SlowDoke” O’Kearney reaching the money places, with the latter falling in 12th place for $9,368.

Everyone at the final table was guaranteed $13,142 and that was the sum “just_two_ace” collected for busting in ninth. The Russian player was followed to the sidelines by “longbreath”, “jagdtreiba”, “Ticiz”, “Killuckkk”, and “roddc”.

Third-place went to Sweden’s “mamamamama70” who had reached the final table of the Super Tuesday in October. The Swede fell in third place when his ace-deuce was beaten by a seven-high straight made by Brazil’s “SitPro2011”.

SitPro2011 ran out a worthy winner when Malta-based “Kelevrafckj” moved all-in for 15 big blinds with ace-deuce and SitPro2011 called with ten-seven of clubs. SitPro2011 improved to a pair of tens on the flop and his hand remained best to send his opponent to the rail in second place.
