PokerStars WCOOP Day 7: ‘magiet12’ Wins $100K; Benny Spindler Runs Deep
Day 7 of the World Championship of Online Poker (WCOOP) at PokerStars saw another six champions named with two big buy-in events and four low buy-in events coming to an end.
The biggest winner of the day was “magiet12”, who won over $100,000 in the WCOOP-19-H: $1,050+R PLO [6-Max], $300K Gtd.
With only two big buy-in events coming to completion Saturday, Pot-Limit Omaha took center stage with the biggest prize pool of the day. A buy-in of $1,050 is sure to attract some of the worlds best PLO players as the event saw 174 unique entries along with 261 rebuys and 117 double stack add-ons to create a prize pool of $552,000.
The first day ended with the money bubble being popped, meaning the 23 remaining players to start Day 2 were guaranteed to walk away with at least $6,996. The two top stacks to start Day 2 were “anti-durrr” and “omaha4rollz”, who had both made their way over the one million-chip mark.
Final Table Action Begins
As play began at the unofficial seven-handed final table, “omaha4rollz” was the clear-cut favorite holding over 2.7 million chips with the next closest competitor having 1.1 million.
Benny “toweliestar” Spindler was the first player to leave the official six-handed final table when he shoved on a flop of 7♦7♣4♦ holding K♣Q♦10♦4♥. “anti-durrr” called holding 6♣6♥5♦5♠ and eliminated the two-time SCOOP champion as the board failed to improve Spindler. Spindler received $27,170 for the sixth-place finish.
“magiet12” made their first mark on the final table by eliminating “aabas” in fifth place for $35,944. “aabas” had a dwindling stack and put in the rest of it with A♠Q♦10♠9♣ against “magiet12” who held K♠K♣4♣2♠. The final board of J♥4♥3♠4♠8♥ gave “magiet12” trip fours for the win.
With a board reading A♦10♠9♦, “anti-durrr” decided to make a stand and got in their remaining stack against “magiet12”. “anti-durrr” had a pair with a straight draw holding Q♠J♠9♣8♣ while “magiet12” held A♣Q♦J♣6♦ for top pair and a flush draw. The 10♦ on the turn gave "anti-durrr" a straight but completed a flush for “magiet12” and the J♥ on the river sealed “anti-durrr”’s fate eliminating him in fourth place for $47,552.
“omaha4rollz” Takes Third
When three-handed play began, Farid "SHiiPTHATiSH" Jattin had over half the chips in play with 4.1M to the 1.4M of “magiet12” and the 1.1M of “omaha4rollz”’. “omaha4rollz” and Jattin clashed when the flop was laid out 6♠4♣2♠. After Jattin check-raised for the equivalent of half of “omaha4rollz” stack, “omaha4rollz” put in the rest of the chips, which was met with a call by the big stack of Jattin.
“omaha4rollz”: 3♠3♥2♣2♦
Jattin:A♠Q♦J♦9♠
“omaha4rollz” had flopped a set with a gut-shot straight draw but needed to fade spades as Jattin had a flush draw. The turn brought the 8♠ giving Jattin a flush and putting him in the lead. The 10♠ river was no help for “omaha4rollz”, who exited in third place for $62,908.
Heads-Up Play
When heads-up play began, Farid "SHiiPTHATiSH" Jattin held a 10-to-1 chip advantage having 6.1M to the 583,639 of “magiet12”. What seemed to be a sure thing for Jattin quickly took a turn for the worse and “magiet12” turned the tides of the heads-up battle to pull to within a two-to-one disadvantage.
The two players then made a deal which would see Jattin lock up $93,134 while “magiet12” was guaranteed to walk away with $88,448, leaving $11,740 additional for the eventual winner. That deal also guaranteed that the winner would be getting a payday of more than $100,000.
After “magiet12” made a hero call to win a 4.7M-chip pot and take the chip lead, the two players got the rest of the chips into the middle on a flop of 9♣2♠2♦ with Jattin holding A♦J♠10♦9♦ and “magiet12” with K♣Q♦Q♠J♦. The turn was the Q♥ giving “magiet12” a full house and the 8♦ on the river made "magiet12"'s storybook comeback complete.
Jattin earned $93,134 after the deal for second place while “magiet12” took home $100,188 and the WCOOP title.
