Players are gearing up for some late-summer poker action as the 2017 River Poker Series heads to WinStar World Casino and Resort heads to Thackerville, Oklahoma from Aug. 30 to Sept. 11.

All players are welcome provided they are at least 18 years of age and provide a valid ID. This is refreshing to many younger poker players since most casinos in the United States only allows players that are at least 21 years old.

The highlight of the poker festival is the $2,500 River Poker Series Main Event. The event organizers expect a big turnout as the event will be held at the WinStar World Casino & Resort Global Events Center and boasts a huge $2 million guaranteed prize pool.

The tournament allows plenty of opportunities for players to advance to Day 2. There are three opening days on Sept. 1-3 at 12 p.m. and players can re-enter provided seating is available each day until the conclusion of Level 9.

The action kicks off with players receiving 25,000 starting chips with blinds at 50/100 and 40-minute blind levels. Each opening day will end when 12 percent of the field is remaining.

Players bagging chips can try to improve their stack on any of the following opening days, however they will only be able to bring their best stack forward to Day 2 on Sept. 4. The Championship Round takes place on Sept. 5 where play will continue until a winner is crowned.

In addition to the Main Event, there are seven side events on the schedule with buy-ins ranging from $400 to $1,100.

The PokerNews Live Reporting Team will be on hand to cover the Main Event from the first cards dealt until a winner is awarded the 2017 River Championship Bracelet.
