Sunday Briefing: Julio Lins Wins Massive PokerStars Sunday Million

This weekend’s PokerStars Sunday Million saw a bumper field of 6,014 entries who created a prize pool of $1,202,800. This princely sum was distributed among the top 1,007 finishers, with the top prize weighing in at an impressive $180,234.

It was Brazil’s Julio “powerpokerBR” Lins who triumphed this week, taking full advantage of the re-entry format and going all the way with his second bullet. The $180,235 Lins won is by far his largest online poker tournament score, one almost six times the size of his previous best, which was a second-place finish in a $109 rebuy at PokerStars in 2012 for $37,260.

Another big winner on Sunday was Jordan “JWPRODIGY” Westmorland. Playing from Indonesia, Westmorland walked away with the $35,435 first-place prize of the $1,050 Sunday Grand NLHE to ensure a profitable weekend at the virtual felt.

Over at partypoker, “eet_smakelijk” took down the $100K Gtd Super High Roller to turn his $2,600 into $35,471, which happened to be the largest cash at partypoker this weekend.

A similarly-sized $34,503 was awarded to “Z-ENERGIES” who triumphed in the $200K Gtd Title Fight, while the talented “bossamtisch1” walked away with the $25,395 first-place prize of the $150K Gtd Main Event.

Also at partypoker, “blodders03” won the $150K Gtd High Roller for $28,781, “girafganger” won the $100K Gtd High Roller for $20,201, “samyboyt6969” became the $100K Gtd Title Fight Warm Up champion and collected $22,398 and “Gatharone” won the $40K Gtd Title Fight II for $8,852.

Finally, the results from tournaments at 888poker, including the victory for Akira “Clutch_Hero” Ohyama in the $80,000 Baby Whale worth $18,898 and the win for “badass114” in the $40,000 Turbo Mega Deep that earned the Norwegian $9,200.

Canada’s “spektah888” won the $6,804 top prize of the $30,000 Sunday Crocodile, and “monster_dong” topped a field of 453 players to scoop the $9,862 first-place prize of the $50,000 Sunday Challenge.
