2017 Spring Championship of Online Poker (SCOOP)

American poker refugee Calvin "cal42688" Anderson extended his SCOOP record by winning his eighth title after shipping the SCOOP-13-H: $530 NLHE [3-Max, Turbo, Zoom, Progressive KO], $300K Gtd for $62,920, plus $18,524 in bounties at PokerStars.

Anderson, an eight-time former No. 1 online poker tournament player in the world, according to PocketFives, entered this year's SCOOP as the record holder with seven SCOOP titles and established a second record with 10 COOP victories. PokerStars COOP titles include wins in online poker's three biggest festivals: World Championship of Online Poker (WCOOP), the Spring Championship of Online Poker (SCOOP) and the Turbo Championship of Online Poker (TCOOP).

While most SCOOP tournaments run over the course of multiple days, Anderson was able to etch his name in history in under five hours thanks to the tournament taking place in three-max, turbo and Zoom format.

Among the well-known players to just miss out on the final table included 2014 World Series of Poker Main Event winner Martin "M.nosbocaJ" Jacobson finishing in sixth place for $9,096, plus $8,158 in bounties, and former top ranked online poker tournament player in the world Andreas "mrAndreeew" Berggren in fourth place for for $13,586, plus $2,766 in bounties. While Jacobson missed out on the top prize in this event, he did add to his impressive poker resume by winning his first SCOOP title in SCOOP-08-H: $530+R NLHE, $300K Gtd for $106,984.

According to the PokerStars Blog, Anderson (7.4 million in chips) entered the three-max final table with the chip lead against Brazil's "WilsonJLD" (5.9 million in chips) and Germany's "WATnlos" (2.4 million in chips).

Shortly after the final table began, "WilsonJLD" closed in on Anderson's chip lead after he open-jammed on a jack-nine-five rainbow flop to pick up a pot worth 2.5 million in chips.

Five hands later, WilsonJLD eliminated WATnlos in third place for $20,973 (plus $10,487 in bounties) after his pocket kings held against his opponent's ace-jack.

After picking up these two pots, WilsonJLD entered the heads-up battle with an 8.2 million to 7.5 million chip lead on Anderson. However, it didn't take long for Anderson to have his opponent on life support after winning two big pots.

Anderson closed things out in just four minutes of heads-up play when his ace-nine nailed a flush against his opponent's ace-queen suited. WilsonJLD didn't walk away empty-handed as his runner-up performance earned him $36,326, plus $14,070 in bounties.
