At last year’s PSMO Main Event at 888poker, “Blaser75” topped a field of 144 entrants to get the $4,968 first-place prize. Other champions from 2016 included “Skuumberg” who won the $217 Low Roller for $618, “Nlsbrn” who topped a 75-strong field in the $55 Deepstack for a $1,031 score and “Rushtomten” who was crowned the $55 no-limit hold’em six-max champion, an accolade that came with a $1,376 prize.

“We expect the Main Event to host 250-300 players," said Mauritz Altikardes, CEO of Poker Event Svenska, to 888poker Magazine. "I believe that familiar 888 regulars such as WSOP bracelet winner Peter Eichardt, Jerry ‘perrymejsen’ Ödeen, former PSML ME winner Emma Wikberg, as well as the latest PSML Main Event winner, Pontus Magnusson, and some of the old-school names, will take a shot at becoming the next Swedish Poker Champion.”

One familiar player expected to compete in the PSMO events is 888poker ambassador and Swedish pro Sofia Lövgren.

“Soon it’ll be time for the Swedish Poker Championship Online 2017," she said. "This is a tournament I love to play, and 888poker is a major partner for the second year in a row. Sweden is today a leading country in online poker, and most of the best Swedish MTT players are now playing regularly on 888poker."

Lövgren said poker makes Swedes act out of character - in a good way.

"Swedes are usually quite polite and timid, but when it comes to poker - no mercy - you can expect an aggressive and entertaining game with lots of three-betting, four-betting and bluffing," she said. "I invite all you Swedes, pros or less experienced, to play. Everybody has a chance. I'm going all in, so if you want to win, you'll have to call me down!”
