888poker 2017 Super XL Series Day 8: Chris Moorman Wins Event #38

The final weekend of the 888poker 2017 Super XL Series is nearing, so things are heating up on the second largest online poker room in the world. On Thursday, there were six new events planned and they all played down to a winner. Let's see who won some big money!

Event #38: $50,000 Super XL - R&A Event

The eight day of the 888poker 2017 Super XL Series started with Event #38: $50,000 Super XL - R&A Event. A total of 667 players registered for this tournament and they created a total prize pool of $87,750. For the eventual winner, there was a first-place prize of $16,453.12 waiting to be collected.

After "d0nkeykong" from Canada was busted on the final table bubble, the tournament reached the final table with 888poker Ambassador Chris "888Moorman" Moorman still left in contention. With nine players left the bustouts followed each other in quick succession. "zzagnux" finished in ninth place, "danph134" got $1,974.37 for finishing eighth and "mantecaa" ended up in seventh place for $2,851.87. Moorman had the chip lead with six players left:

The final table went really fast and after "narizinhodzi" finished in third place for $8,775, Moorman was playing "YourNemeis" for the title and first prize of $16,453.12. It was a long and heavy battle between the two, but in the end, it was Moorman who was the strongest and shipped the event:

Event #39: $10,000 Super XL - Mini R&A Event

For the players who couldn't afford the regular R&A Event, there was once again a mini-edition with a buy-in of just $5. The tournament got to 1,573 entries who created a prize pool of $19,428.50. The largest share went to Denmark's "larsnoro" who won the even after eight hours and 15 minutes of play. He defeated Germany's "icecube781" in the final heads-up to walk away with the top prize of $3,281.47.

Event #40: $100,000 Super XL - Quarterback

Players not particularly fond of little events were in for a treat on Thursday with Event #40 of the series - the $215 buy in $100,000 Super XL - Quarterback. A total of 560 players paid their buy-in to get a prize pool of $147,550 with $27,886.95 for the eventual winner. It was Malta's "Giuglia888" who defeated "njegosh" in the final heads-up to walk away with exactly that. The runner-up had to do a total prize of $20,435.67.

Event #41: $30,000 Super XL - Mini Quarterback

The series continued with Event #41: $30,000 Super XL - Mini Quarterback where 889 players competed for a total prize pool of $43,110. After more than eight hours of play, the tournament crowned Germany's "weltmaschine" as the winner of the tournament. He received a prize of $7,759.80.

Event #42: $25,000 Super XL - Thursday Challenge

Event #42 of the series, the $25,000 Super XL - Thursday Challenge, saw 1,199 players compete for a total prize pool of $33,572. The lion's share of this money was awarded to by Poland's "Altik14" who won the tournament for $5,794.52.

Event #43: $30,000 Super XL - Turbo Quarterback

The eighth day of the series was closed by Event #43: $30,000 Super XL - Turbo Quarterback where they went from 373 players to a winner in just three hours and 26 minutes. In this tournament, the final three players made a deal where they all got more than $6,000. Czech Republic's "Olli4.4.4" got $6,230.20 for his third-place finish, while "joao_mathias" received $6,419.81 for finishing in second place for $6,419.81.

The winner of this tournament, "que_te_crio", got himself a nice payday, receiving the XL Series title and the first-place prize of $6,639.65.
