Sunday Briefing: David “Ymobad” Imobach Wins the Sunday Million

While the 2016 World Series of Poker Main Event final table was in full swing over in Las Vegas, thousands of poker players around the world sat around their computers grinding the biggest online poker tournaments of the week. All started their sessions with high hopes. For some, those hopes were dashed. For others, their dreams were realized.

One player now on cloud nine is Spain’s David “Ymobad” Imobach who turned $215 into $136,196.74 by taking down the PokerStars Sunday Million. Imobach now resides in the United Kingdom so he can play on the global PokerStars site. His decision to move abroad looks to have paid off judging by this excellent result.

The Sunday Million ended in a chop when it was heads up. Imobach took the larger of the two prizes, with Poland’s “jacu131” collecting a still very respectable $131,273.

  • “Noogaii” – winner of the $215 Sunday Warm-Up for $53,027.17
  • “Omganonymous” – winner of the $215 Weekender for $9,480.56
  • “elmerixx” – winner of the Big $109 for $24,936.73
  • “Sajanas171” – winner of the Hot $162 for $11,736.27
  • Nicolas “Legadzo” Cardyn – winner of the $700 Super-Sized Sunday for $35,727.16
  • “trionojnika” – winner of the $109 Bounty Builder for $15,660.96
  • Mantas “bagoch” Bagocius – winner of the $109 Bubble Rush for $10,966.90
  • “PokerBratv2” – winner of the Hot $109 for $19,937.81

Over at 888poker, “preyondaline” took down the $120,000 Whale for $31,774.18 with fellow Brit “mrsmith78” winning the $100,000 Mega Deep for $25,987.50.

It was Mat “checktrap11” Cuthbertson who emerged victorious from the $40,000 Turbo Mega Deep, a win worth $8,736.42, while “whyfloatme” topped a field of 448 players in the $50,000 Sunday Crocodile, turning his $160 into $12,768 in the process.

Lastly for 888poker, a shout out to “vaitodo.pt” who won the $80,000 Sunday Challenge for a $15,480 score.

Completing the Sunday Briefing for another week is a roundup of the action at partypoker where “Jarildur1” won the $50,000 Gtd Weigh-In for $11,957.49 and “DustyJenkins” won the $40,000 Gtd Drago for $9,405.01.

This week’s $150,000 Gtd Main Event was taken down by “wayontheway” who banked $24,864.13 with “JENOVA” walking away with a cool $39,097.50 by winning the $200,000 Gtd High Roller.

The biggest buy in tournament of Sunday was the $2,600 Super High Roller which this week awarded $53,250 to “probirs.”
