Our Guide: The Best Tournaments to Play at 888poker
888poker is the world's second largest online poker network for many good reasons including fantastic games, excellent software, great support and awesome promotions.
One of the many reasons why recreational and professional players flock to 888poker is due to the plethora of low-, mid- and high-stakes tournaments hosted on the site throughout the week. Here is our guide to the best tournaments to play based on what stakes you are comfortable with:
Higher-Stakes Tournaments
From Sept. 17-25, 888poker is hosting its latest edition of the Super XL, featuring 40 events with combined guaranteed prize pools of $4 million. Obviously some of the tournaments with the biggest guarantees feature some of the largest buy ins including the $1,050 buy-in Super XL Series Main Event on Sept. 25, which features a huge $1.5 million guarantee.
However, this isn't to say that there aren't high-stakes tournaments running all the time at 888poker. When the Super XL is not taking place, there are tons of tournaments with a $109 or higher buy in with a huge guaranteed prize pool.
Sundays are usually the biggest day on 888poker, when players can join in on the $215 Mega Deep, which lately has been featuring a $150,000 guarantee, and the $90 1R Sunday Challenge, which lately has been featuring an $80,000 guarantee. Depending on the time of year, these guarantees can go up or down.
Additionally, on alternating Sundays, players can get in on the $600 Whale with a $120,000 guarantee and the $320 Baby Whale with a $100,000 guarantee. There are also tons of tournaments available with huge guarantees during the week, including the $600 Volcano, the $215 Quarterback, the $150 Crocodile, the $109 Tornado and the $109 Hurricane.
Mid-Stakes Tournaments
Mid-stakes players also are in for a treat next week with plenty of Super XL tournaments at reasonable buy ins. Players can try to qualify for these tournaments — even the ones with larger buy ins — via satellites running around the clock. This is also the case for the regularly scheduled high-stakes tournaments listed above.
In addition, some of the regularly scheduled lucrative tournaments mid-stakes players should consider include many of the daily challenge tournaments. For example, the Saturday Challenge runs at a $55 buy in and almost always crushes its $20,000 guaranteed prize pool.
Sundays are a treat on 888poker for mid-stakes players as well with the $55 Monsoon and the $55 Sunday Breeze, both with $30,000 guaranteed prize pools.
While there are too many tournaments for mid-stakes players to list them all, one that should be on everyone's schedule is the $35 Swordfish, a tournament that features a $10,000 guaranteed prize pool.
Low-Stakes Tournaments
One might expect that lower-stakes players would be left out of the upcoming Super XL series, but this is not the case with tournaments just starting out at $5 and satellites running even cheaper. Low-stakes players can also try to qualify for some tournaments that would normally be outside their bankroll in satellites as well.
However, as you might expect, there are tons of tournaments running even lower than throughout the week with buy ins ranging from $0.11 to $1. In addition, there are tons of bankroll boosting freerolls running around the clock that are relatively easy to get involved in.
The lowest buy-in regularly scheduled tournament is the $150 Guaranteed Turbo for just a $0.11 buy in. After that, there are plenty of tournaments for under a dollar with guaranteed prize pools as high as $1,500, including the $1,500 Guaranteed Frenzy for just $0.99. The $1,000 Goldfish is a bargain at just a $1 buy in as is the $2,500 Mega Micro with a $3 buy in.
BLAST and Live Satellites Available at All Buy-in Levels
If you are short on time, playing BLAST, 888poker's new hyper-turbo, lottery-style game should be right up your alley. Buy ins start at just $0.10 and range up to $30 with 10,000 times the prize pool potentially available in one-table, four-max games. These tournaments take literally minutes to complete. Learn more about them here.
Additionally, depending on what events are running, there are always satellites to live land-based events around the year. The €888 888Live London Main Event, featuring a £200,000 guarantee, is right around the corner with $109 qualifiers, step-satellites and other sub-satellites starting at just $0.01.
