The third-edition of Powerfest is scheduled to take place on partypoker from September 4-25, and it will be the largest one yet with 198 tournaments and $10 million in guaranteed prize pools.

Powerfest has proven itself to be popular among recreational and professional players alike, with buy-ins ranging from $5.50 to $5,200. When the online poker series was introduced by partypoker for the first time in February, it featured 98 tournaments and $5 million in guaranteed prizes. The poker festival grew in size during its second run in May with 172 events and $7.8 million in guaranteed prize pools before once again growing coming September.

In addition to increasing the number of events, some of the existing tournaments on the previous schedule now have larger guarantees than before. Group Head of partypoker Tom Waters described this as an "exciting challenge" in a press release sent to PokerNews:

"Hosting Powerfest with our biggest ever guarantee of $10,000,000 is an exciting challenge for us, shared Waters. "We are looking to build on the success of the last Powerfest in May and have increased the guarantees on a number of Powerfest events as well as adding some new and improved MTTs."

Powerfest Schedule

As was the case with the previous two editions, the poker festival is broken down into four categories. The only difference here is that the lowest two categories, Featherweight and Middleweight, will take place simultaneously during the first week of the schedule instead of during separate weeks as was the case previously. Additionally, the highest two categories, the Heavyweight and High Roller, were previously run simultaneously during the same single week, and instead will now take place at the same time during the final two weeks of the poker festival.

The highlight of the tournament series are the four Powerfest Main Events. The $11 Featherweight Main Event with a $40,000 guarantee and the $55 Powerfest Middleweight Main Event with a $100,000 guarantee both run on September 11, while the $215 Powerfest Heavyweight Main Event with a $500,000 guarantee and the $1,050 Powerfest High Roller Main Event with a $1 million guarantee both take place on September 25.

Additionally, there will be a second event on September 25 slapped with a $1 million guarantee with a large $5,200 buy-in. This event attracted many high rollers during the last edition of Powerfest, and perhaps even more will play this time around thanks to the $5,000 World Championship of Online Poker Main Event scheduled to kick off on the same day on PokerStars.

During the first run of Powerfest in February, many of the tournaments were held in reentry format. Reentries were eliminated during the second run of the series in May transforming all the tournaments on the schedule into freeze-outs. The revamped tournament format proved to be more popular among many in its player base, and partypoker will be once again stick to freeze-outs with the occasional rebuy tournament sprinkled in during the upcoming edition of Powerfest in September.

Warm Up with the Powerfest Mini

While qualifiers for all the tournaments on the Powerfest schedule will enable players to enter their targeted events for a fraction of the cost of the buy-in, players will have the chance to win Powerfest tickets and cash during the first-ever Powerfest Mini running just before the start of the tournament festival from September 1-3 in the Powerfest Mini.

Microstakes players will get a feel for Powerfest during Powerfest Mini with 12 events each with a buy-in of $2.20 or smaller, while playing for at least $40,000 in guaranteed prizes. Additionally, partypoker is hosting a Powerfest Mini Leaderboard enabling the top performing players to enjoy a share of $20,000 in Powerfest tournament tickets.
